Looks like Barclays are going to try and compete with Apple Pay - http://www.engadget.com/2015/06/29/barclaycard-bpay-nfc-devices/

Good luck with that one Barclays! When you are expecting someone to pay £14.99 for a sticker, £19.99 for a fob and £24.99 for a single function wrist band. I can safely say I won't buy an overpriced sticker to put on the back of my iPhone. I don't need another keyring and I don't have room on my wrist for another band.....and to top it all, it's a pre-pay system!

They've completely missed the point! Just give your customers what they want....the ability to use Barclay Credit and Debit cards on an iPhone.

Yep.

Way too much self-assured hubris on this one Barclays. It'll disappear down the tubes within a few months having blown a massive promotions budget, then go on life-support until all mention of it is gradually erased from existence a year or so later.

Have had the bPay band since last year and it's been pretty good, still get asked all the time what it is. That said I didn't pay for it though.

My main cards are with Lloyds who aren't in Apple Pay until Autumn so will tide me over until then and still maybe keep it after that as it's quite nice sometimes just having the band.

Fair play to Barclays - they were the first to introduce debit cards in the UK - and they were obviously trying to get something off the ground before Apple Pay launches in the UK, but they are flogging a dead horse here, given the sheer number of iPhones in daily use. Why do they think anybody would purchase one of or all three additional items when they can use a device they already own?

I find it amazing that Barclays' top brass haven't taken one look at the number of their rivals that have backed Apple Pay and haven't asked themselves if they're doing the right thing ... as MagicBoy says, bPay will be gone within a year

I was when I downloaded 8.4 at work - I'm now not as For You, New and Radio don't appear to work over 3G. According to Apple Music, I'm not connected to the internet in any way shape or form ... what's the point?

Working fine here over 4G :confused:maybe just your connection or that Apple music is getting hammered

As someone who doesn't really like Top 40 music, Beats 1 has been pretty good so far. Good to hear Zane on the 'radio' again. The on demand streaming bits aren't much of a change from Spotify though, but Connect seems interesting so far, though it really depends on how much share what they're into to take off. Flying Lotus and Trent Reznor seem to be active, but it's only the first day.

Fixed it - Apple Music sets itself to not use mobile data by default, to prevent people running up data bills without being aware of it. Settings > Mobile, and then find Music in the list of apps.

However, there's now another issue - when on 3G, all the tracks on 'For You' and 'My Music' are greyed out and won't play. I can click the three-dot icon and make them available offline, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a streaming service ...

Missing something blindingly obvious no doubt ...
