It's good of them to advertise a Core 2 Duo based system on their front page though as being the Best Gaming PC

They still haven't released proper updated drivers for the X1950 though

I can't believe that. Their brand new card has only Beta drivers and is still released to the public?!

Don't worry, they're only rebranding the site. The cards will still have the red and white ATI logo with red trim.

For now ;)

I like how they say 'AMD and ATI have joined forces blah blah blah'. What they really mean is 'AMD have completely bought ATI, ATI is no more its just AMD'. AMD have already said the card's names will change to 'AMD Radeon' at some point.

AMD R600 ;)

What? I think that someone needs to read this article before they wet themselves in excitement.

The ATI brand and Radeon etc. product families are going absolutely nowhere, this is from AMDs mouth. So no, we're not talking about an AMD R600 at all, we're talking about an ATI Radeon R600. ;)

The whole company is now owned by AMD, as in bought out, but will continue to operate with semi-autonomy as a subdivision with the old logos and branding.

They will be autonimous apart from the fact that the CPU and graphics will be integrated onto a single chip at some point in the future (sounds like a cheap integrated all in 1 mobo solution to me at this stage however).

If you think that means graphics boards will be dead then you are completely missing the bigger picture.

The hybridisation of GPU and CPU (AMD's Fusion) is not only going to take years to develop but is also going to take even longer to mature, even then graphics boards will not be going away as companies like Nvidia and ATI (yes even under AMD control) make far too much money on expansion technology.

The Radeon product family is going nowhere, AMD have said so themselves.

I cant see how u can read my post and come to the conclusion that I am saying "standalone graphics cards are going to be a thing of the past". I said that they will be working together on a single item which means their relationship is slightly more than that was suggested in the post I was replying to.

As Ive said in another thread, I think this merger will allow AMD/ATI take a larger share of the business market. These companies make money from selling bulk, and top-of-the-line graphics cards are not bulk.

Even without the discrete CPU/GPU chip they can still sport the 3 most fundamental parts of a PC.

Ive read AMD have made gains in the business market. Dell now sells AMD, and even though intel currently is the better gaming CPU, AMD is slightly cheaper and that will give financial directors an easy decision when buying 500 PCs.
