X-Com complete pack on Steam - $15.85inc

I remember first playing X:COM Enemy Unknown at a students house across the road from mine. I walked into their living room and they had loads of PS1 games sprawled across the floor. I had previously seen my mate play it on his PC but never got to try it out my self. Once i started playing, I was hooked! One of the best games ever made I reckon. Although for anyone playing the game now for the first time may have you questioning that statement :p

I loved the fact each soldier had his own personality (well that's what i thought anyway), ill explain. There was always one soldier who was a beef and could take a couple of plasma rifle shots to the face. Coinciding with this, if his reaction stat was high he would always fire back too. I always tried to keep these guys alive and would prioritise peoples lives :D

I enjoyed Apocalypse for its chaotic real time mode and deep terror (although the setting was a bit bland really) but the other games never really captured my attention.

I loved the setting of apoc, city trying to survive with a small dash of politics, subterfuge and alien invasions :D

Presumably that only affects the UFO gold version that actually ran in XP, this DOSbox version is the same as the original.

No its definately the original i've had problems with, as below:

X-COM Interceptor:

There is an issue with Windows XP and Interceptor:
It only occurs in Single-Player mode. you can play missions against the above targets fine using the Simulator.
Only the Alien Base, Sensor Probe, Data Jammer Probe and Pirate Base are affected. Alien Outposts, OPPs or Pirate Ships aren't effected in any way.
The "invisible" target is always positioned at -0,00km from your ship at a SE direction.
The probe's sound doesn't stop annoying you EVER during the mission, not even when you're going into hyperspace.
The missions don't apparently have any other active targets besides the "invisible" probe/base, but when you leave the mission they leave the probe/base and come after you. you also get a Mission Failed and 0 score for doing nothing on the mission.

Unfortunately, no fix has been found, except to play the game in Windows 98.

Hopefully this re-do on Steam has been fixed for release, otherwise its pointless releasing it with the above problem ruining the game.

I'm gonna have to buy these, even though Xcom was too difficult and I couldnt get very far. I still dont think there are any games that have come out that beat it.

And there's always one flakey big girls blouse who panics if he gets a flesh wound and starts shooting up your sqaudies. And the enemy smells his fear and constantly panic attacks him. This guy is a liability.

Give him a pistol, prime his grenade and march him into a dark warehouse, to 'flush out' those damn chysilids. :D

They were extremely annoying. I made sure they had the worst guns. They were the type who got brain washed by those black things, first, on a terror site

"X:com apocylapse manual" in Google sorted me out :P

Bit of a problem now in that there appears to be a crashed alien craft sitting on the ground smoking, but I cant seem to find a way of getting agents to raid it. Tried landing and raiding the buidling it was beside, but it didnt work and the occupants didnt think much of it.

You have to actually tell them to raid the crashed ship itself though you need to be quick before the aliens move on, you literally need to send troops out in a flying vehicle the moment it's shot down in order to be certain.

I loved apocalypse, but i have far too many modern games to finish so i can't persuade myself to buy this.

I have the boxed version of apocolypse on my shelf, I never even loaded it.

I think I still have the origianl XCOM enemy unknown on floppy discs somewhere :)

May as well buy the Steam ones to play later :)

I'm surrounding by weirdos in here. Let me out!

I take it iD pack has Quake 2 on it? Man I loved that soundtrack. I forgot the band who did it. Some of the songs might have been Nine inch nails actually. A lot of instrumental stuff on there though

Lol , another game ive not played! :P Quake 2 , played Quake 1 tho!
hmmm

So is this X-Com worth £9 also ?

I would say so. You may get a shock with a few of the games when it comes to the graphics. If you can get past that then you should be okay

Downloading the Xcom games now. It should be a laugh at the graphics quality. I am currently re-playing Fallout 2 and it took me ages to get used to how bad it looks these days.

Btw what order were the xcom games released. Steam has them listed as follows

Terror from Deep
Apololypse
Enforcer
Interceptor
UFO-Defence

I am sure that is wrong
