Enemy Unknown/ Defence is one of the greatest games ever made. Anyone who can't get over the dated graphics is going to miss out on one of the most intense and in-depth games ever made.

Just downloaded one of the manuals it syas you need minimum 4mb of ram! Ack I better check I have enough

I'd be more worried about the base memory required. Some used to use 560+KB and you had to use memmaker and crap like that!

check out the manual at http://www.steampowered.com/Manuals/7650/manual_en.pdf which will give you a good idea of the graphics.

I loved the original Unknown/Defence. but didnt play the others but for the sake of the price of 3 pints of lager am going to have another play of them

Apocalypse is the only one worthy of your time in my opinion after playing the first 2 games. Never played enforcer but it doesn't look too great gameplay wise.

yes these first came out when we had to use boot disks where you had to have either XMS or EMS memory. God that also brings memories back

i guess these are fixed to run in XP now , they better be as I dont have a floppy drive anymore!

Well it technically did. UFO defense is the same game as Enemy Unknown just different name for different regions of the world. Europe got EU and the Americans got Defense I believe. It was released on the PS1 around 1995 but came to the PC & Amiga around 1993

Thinking about it of corse Enemy from the Deep came second as that was the underwater one - Doh

I vaguely remember the mothership section could be annoying trying to find the last alien to kill who would be cowering somewhere and took ages to find

LOl, youve got me into retro mode. Have just been trying to get hold of the original Homeworld. I gave my copy to someone ages ago and have the urge to re-play that too now !

I don't remember ever being so rubbish at UFO Enemy Unknown...I'm sure I used to be better at it when I was 10 or something

It's amazing though how, other than a few UI improvements it could probably do with, it stands the test of time so well...I'm having as much fun playing it now as I ever did
