X-Factor 2012

That was probably the best vocal performance but a lot of people will end up committing suicide, regardless of whether they want to or not, listening to his songs. Has there ever been anyone as dull?

Ella once again won it last night. She is invincible. Her timeing of the rather limited dance moves was very good considering she is definatley more of a singer than a bells and whistles performer.

The duo (MK1?) were a lot better this week than they have been too.

It's hard to argue with that, though last night's song didn't really do anything for me, unlike her early performances. And last week's song was just a demonstration piece. It demonstrated her range ridiculously well, it just had no feeling, which is what was can be so captivating about her singing.

But then that's the X-Factor process... take natural talent and try to destroy it one week at a time with a cocktail of mindless mentoring and stereotypical showbizification. :->

I was impressed by the fact Ella didn't get put off by the daft hand dancing, but Gary's right. Just let her put 100% into the singing with no distractions.

I'm afraid all the others are looking, to me, like your average X-Factor contestants. Talented, but only in a narrow window. That's not a crime, and it may well win them an audience of some sort eventually, but it's not particularly entertaining either. Which is why there are so few genuine stars in the world.

And by the way, has Nicole said anything useful yet? In all my fast forwarding while eating breakfast I may have missed a comment which couldn't have been made by a member of the audience picked at random.

Yup Gary was spot on with his comments about Ellas dancing, it was awkward and she didn't look comfortable.

For me he really is the only judge that keeps the BS to a minimum, and generally just provides solid and honest advice. I could have a beer and a chat with Gary, seems like a sound bloke.

but his voice and passion are brilliant

hes the next plan b

lucy and james are the only two proper "artists" the rest are commercial manufactured pap

I have to say that despite the fact I spent a decade loathing him and the rest of his boy band antics, I did reluctantly have to start respecting the guy once his solo career took off and I realised he was the talented one.

Sometimes he seems a bit uncomfortable in the Simon Cowell role, which can make him seem a bit annoying, but I definitely agree with you.

One thing I forgot to say is that Ella does have one bad habit which is grates on me.... those throaty, raspy, forced sounds. I'm sure she'll grow out of using that regularly, and this week's song was almost completely free of it, but it does bug me.

Still, it's nice to have something to pick fault with. It wouldn't be X-Factor without nit-picking and pettiness. :-) And as the judges keep saying, it's hard to believe she's only 16. She has plenty of time to mature.

Hmm, personally i'd say Ella is an artist by default. She has been gifted with a magnificent voice in terms of range and expression, and that in itself is her instrument as much as any singing/guitar combo. She is commercially guided now as she is so young and has no experience, but in the future who's to say how she will develop with writing her own songs when she starts to experience love and heartbreak etc.

Sky+ it, fast forward to Ella, watch her then turn off.

Only thing worth watching the show for. More performances like the Aution/Boot Camp/Houses though please.
