X-fi titanium problem

hmmm, now you guys have got me wondering becuase my card works fantastically, BUT in the PCI bus section in device manager it shows as High Defintion Audio Device and not SB XFI, also when i go to update the driver i only have the option to choose the High Definition Audio Device.

Strange?
That's the problem I had, I had sound which was nice and worked fine, but the features of this £89.99 card wasn't being used due to windows using generic drivers for it. This is what I fixed using the steps in my earlier post. Basically it was like the equivalent of buying a brand new 30" TFT monitor and only running it in 1024x768. :p

I highly recommend you follow the steps, you should find your sound improves dramatically, especially now you can enable the crystalizer which is one of my favourite features :)

lol, how odd :D, when windows had my card as a "high definition audio device", all the creative software like the THX console etc wouldn't open, because it didn't detect a creative device present on the machine

Hi guys, i was wondering should the x-fi logo light be constantly illuminated? On boot up it does, for a short time, then fades to nothing.

Mine is constantly lit. Sounds like you have a duff card mate, either that or its connection is a bit loose. Have you tried reseating it?

I`ve re-seated it, changed pci-e slot and still nothing.
As you say it could well be a duff card, think i`ll rma it or take a hammer to it. Thanks for your help mate, i got further with your advice and ocuk forums than anywhere else.

Sorry for the delay in replying, couldnt be a**** to rma as ive decided to to build a new rig from scratch. Many thanks for your help guys.

Try using Daniel K's latest driver set, not only do these sound better as they are optimized for a great listening experience, but they cover many of these problems. I had this problem as you list , when i installed Daniel K's Suppoty Pack 2.0 it all was great :P.

These drivers are available in the soundblaster forums section.

i just stumbled on this post and tried these drivers, what a difference, the sound is so crisp and clear now and the settings in the audio control panel dont dull the sound any more. :) thanks for the heads up

I got the XFI_SupportPack_2_0 download not sure if thats the latest one?
