X-Men: First Class

Exactly my thoughts, he disappoints the mighty Picard:

BTW, it's amazing that the SR71 was made back in the 60s, still looks super futuristic.

After only recently getting into the films I have to say I am looking forward to it, although I would have thought they would make the most of the cast from the last film still being around and not much older.

Being an x-men comic nerd I hate what the films have done. With such strong comic stories there was no need for them to make up their own stories.

Would be like Peter Jackson re-writing lotro just because it was a film conversion.

On the wolverine thing he never had anything to do with them at an earlier point, though he was around. Nor was there an early x-men with Magneto in :( if I was Marvel I would stop the horrible things they make up :(

for all that though the films are relatively entertaining and I will probably watch it.

Have no choice but to watch it, will be interesting too see the 1st episode of the Xmen japanese manga episode :)

The above post sums it up. We're all grumbling about it; we know it's going to mess with canon yet again; we know it's going to annoy the heck out of us - but we're all going to watch it anyway :D

Actually to a certain extent Peter Jackson did re-write LOTR - he moved some scenes from the third book into the second film and pushed sections from the second book into the third film as it made the continuity for scenes work better on the screen. Not surprisingly this caused some grumblings from the Tolkein faithful.

I don't have too much of a problem with tweaking stories to make them work on screen, sometimes the time constraints of a feature film means that certain scenes have to be cut and others moved around. What bugs me though is Hollywood's current need to re-write their own interpretation AGAIN just a few years later to give them an excuse to milk another trilogy out of it.

Tweaking a story for pacing is fine, but what they've effectively done here is told you that they're making Goldfinger and then made the Bourne Identity.

X-Men: First Class is an excellent series about the beginnings of the X-Men, inspired by the first ever stories. There's only 5 of them, no-one really knows about mutants and they're just learning to use their powers and understand the responsibilities they carry.

This might be a good film, although bearing in mind the amount of mutants that appear in the trailer, I doubt it; it's well established that the quality of X-Men stories decreases as the number of mutants increases (ref: X-Men 3, every comic series, excluding Astonishing X-Men, since the 1980s). There just doesn't seem to have been any point calling it First Class.

Batman Begins wasn't called Year One, despite being partly inspired by that graphic novel.

Just seems like the typical Hollywood "can't be bothered to read the original story, but like the name" attitude.

Second Trailer

Not much longer to go before this is released, really looking forward to it :)

I loved the first two X Men films, but the last stand was absolute crap.

I was sad that the animated series X-Men Evolution didnt continue onto a fifth season where they planned to remake the Phoenix Saga.

The cartoon series for X Men were absolutely fantastic.

Didn't they show him in a WW2 scene in Origins?
I think so, but I believe he is supposed to be very old and he was shown with his brother fighting in the American Civil War, WWI, WWII and Vietnam. It's around this point he gets the Adamantium skeleton and becomes Wolverine.

Hi just wondering if anyone has any idea of the best way for me to shift my comics i have around 1000 to 1500 cataloged on a spread sheet ! i'm moving abroad and would like to sell them on. there are indeed a lot of special additions and rare collectables from late 80's to mid 90's.

Any idea's on whats best to do or where to sell...not looking to rip anyone off just looking for a job lot sale with a fair deal for all.
