Hi Guys

Coming within the next few days to OcUK we have X Plane 10 that comes complete as the metal tin edition.

This is regarded as the most complete and realistic simulation for flight enthusiasts. After playing the demo this weekend, I can see why.

With stock due to land by Thursday this week, this is a simulator not to be missed that will truly test your high end hardware to its limits!

X-Plane 10 - Special Edition Tin Edition - PC & MAC @ £43.99 inc VAT

X-Plane 10 is the latest version of a simulator that has been in development continuously for almost 20 years.

Designed to be the most flexible flight simulator it is usable on Windows, Mac and Linux systems and has a fully open structure that allows the virtual pilot to customise every part - whether they want to fly light aircraft, military jets, helicopters or heavy iron.

With thousands of compatible add-ons there is almost no aircraft that is not simulated and there is a whole world to explore from the depths of Alaska to busy European airline hubs and exciting adventures from oil rigs to aircraft carriers too.

X-Plane 10 is so realistic it's been approved by the FAA (America's aviation authority) as a certified training tool.

At its core is a virtual wind tunnel that creates the most realistic flight modelling available on a desktop. Equally capable of simulating every type of aircraft, the virtual pilot is able to experience the challenges of flying big airliners or tiny ultra-light aircraft.

The virtual world in X-Plane 10 is what makes this version different from previous versions. The 'Plausible World' is a new style of virtual landscape that revolutionizes simulation. Created from many real world databases you will see almost all roads and built-up areas exactly as they are around you. The completely new rendering engine shows the world around you in high detail and with global illumination so lights behave like real lights.

Air Traffic Control will guide you from start-up to shut-down and also controls the other aircraft around you. Those other aircraft are not robotic as they are in other simulators, but they interact with the world in the same way as your own aircraft does. They will fight the same cross winds and turbulence as you encounter, they will need more runway to stop when the weather conditions are not favourable. Just like real pilots do, you will watch their take-off to be prepared for what your take-off will be like. It's still simulated but it gets very close to real aviation!

X-Plane 10 is built with the future in mind and makes full use of the hardware in your system: if you own a fast multi-core machine you will be able to simulate more aircraft around you and see more details but even with a moderate-spec machine, X-Plane 10 is capable of displaying a tremendous amount of objects without slowing down.

Key Features:

• Super accurate flight characteristics using a virtual wind tunnel
• Includes 30 aircraft, from gliders to the Space Shuttle
• Online flying with other virtual pilots
• Air Traffic Control actually controls the other aircraft around you
• Detailed terrain for the whole world including very accurate altitude data
• 'Plausible World' auto-generated scenery that includes almost every road
• New rendering engine with innovative global lighting system (first for flight simulation)
• Totally flexible and extendable with thousands of existing add-ons (and many more to come)
• European version includes highly detailed scenery for Nice (LFMN), Paderborn-Lippstadt (EDLP) and Faro (LPFR)

Just played the demo & my little brain is far to simple for such a game
The demo only lets you use the joystick for 15 mins then it stops working, it took me longer then that to work out 5% of what I was ment to be doing.

How people find the time to learn such things.

When you click on the bar at the top of the screen you get list & lists of options.
I could not work out how to get it to run in full screen.

I am sure it's very good but not for a simpleton

I dont dispute the flight-modelling accuracy of XP and their plane-designer is brilliant.

But are the visual models of the airplanes any good - as good as FSX? They were not nice in XP9!

I'll check out the demo though! :)

When you click on the bar at the top of the screen you get list & lists of options.

I agree - while its nice to be able to tweak a ton of stuff I dont like the clutter and the sheer size of the menus. Wish they gave a choice of full or basic menus. I had XP9 installed once and laughed when I saw the settings screen with its gazillion billion sliders!

When it comes to a demo I wish they have taken a hint from Microsoft and given us a time-unlimited demo: but only of one scenery area. Like maybe just the island of Tasmania and 2 planes. At least THAT will give people a good idea (and the time) to make a decision.

Not to Hijack the thread, but that is not correct, there have been plenty of excellent Flight Sims very recently, and over the course of the last 5 years.

YEah, I think they meant the only civil aviation fully featured/modelled sim. There hasnt been any since... ugh Xplane9 probably or FSX.

I'm a huge flight sim nut. Been playing them since my first PC, after stealing FS98 from an uncle.

Fanatstic price for this new sim, and I will be running it alongside FSX on my new rig, as soon as I have a new graphics card in a couple of weeks. At this price, I will grab it from OcUK

For those of you, who can't grasp learning so many commands and procedures etc. I say just give it a go. Start with something simple, like il2 1946, then FSX and X-Plane won't seem so daunting. DCS series, that's a completely different kettle altogether. :D

Check out XP10 videos on youtube for visual comparisons. I think they look excellent. Might write a full review when I've had a couple of weeks with it.

"The only new flight simulator in five years"
would

"The only new Commerical Airline flight simulator in five years"

be more accurate, eg DCS BS/BS2 , A10C , IL2 COD , ROF, etc all out in last 5 years , all flight sims

I have had it a couple of weeks it is pretty good, latest Beta is good so far

Iam glad it is out in UK now importing it would have sucked(import duty) and 40 is a good price

First Thread about this game with some nice screen shots:

IUI Aerosoft included some extra European content, i.e. airfields, which a direct purchase from Laminar Research did not have.

Is there something the 'tin edition' has that the others don't? Other than the tin of course..

From what I've read, the "Presentation Box" is the only thing Special :D

Some versions have some extra detailed airports, however these will be updated onto everyone's game eventually anyway. So ultimately everyone will have the same version.

= Tin Box :p

@rjkoneill
Quick Question dude

How many DVD's are in the box version you will be selling ?

this is what was in the setup assets I got for listing the item.

This European edition includes over 30 aircraft, FAA approved and worldwide scenery with custom European airports. All packed in to exclusive metal packaging and 8 double-layer DVD-ROMs.

hope that helps :)

+1

Thread title is very wrong.

Thanks for the speedy reply

I was hoping that the version you guys were going to sell had the extra DVD
with the high detailed airports.
