x1600?

i have a 6600gt which id like to upgrade. thing is, im on a fairly tight budget. (around £100).

ive seen the Sapphire X1600 Pro 512MB DDR2 AVIVO TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-120-SP) for £105 on this week only.

is it any good and would it give me any better perormance?
are there any better alternatives out there?

its crap mate your 6600gt is better and if you only have £100 you could try the XFX 6800XT which is around that price although it only has 8 pipes it can be unlocked to 12 i think

As above its rubbish, its the x1600 XT thats better than the 6600 GT.

Yeah i know it is, but a lot of ppl get confused into thinking its the pro thats better, but it isnt its the XT.

If you could stretch to another £30 then you could go for the OcUK 6800 GS thats in the 'This Week Only', a much better card.

not a chace it hogs 256mb of my system ram and i only bought it as my old GPU died ive got a 7800GT on its way should be here tomoz, infact its so crap im breaking it when the new one arrives

Faster than what? the GTO? they both have 12 pipes and every GTO unlocks to 16 pipes and if you get an R480 core it'll obliterate the GS (even if you unlock and overclock).

not every GTO unlocks only the saphire GTO2 and the power colour GTO 16 which has already been unlocked, with other GTOs there is no guarantee you will get an R480 core

yep i would love to get my 256mb of ram back and play all the latest games with max eyecandy only about 12 hours to got as my house is usually the first to be delivered to

what score does your GTO get in 3dm06 sm3.0 test? im sure my 6800nu does a lot better.

? never tried. AFAIK the GTO does not do SM3. Everything else plays fantastic though.

hey guys My 7800GT was waiting for me after school when i got home and what can i say, its emense although i havent had time to do any benchies yet and the cooler on the XFX one i got is not loud at all im well pleased so far and i havent even run a game will post results later
