Really fancy one of these, they are mentally clocked and supposed to give the 6800GT's a run for their money. how would you suppose it performs next to a standard PCIE X800GTO?

It is going in with a 3.2gig 478 cpu and an ASUS P4V800D-X motherboard (both PCIE and AGP fitment).

I know the X1600PRO's were a little lame, these are supposed to have what it takes!

The X1600 XT performs nowhere near as quick as any of the 6800 GS cards, let alonge 6800 GT's !!
They also can't compete against the X800 GTO either as thats quicker too but is not as quick as the 6800GS/GT.

Why?

How is its OcUK fault that you bought the wrong thing?

Under the 7 days distance selling act you can do this as long as you do not use the card you have bought yes. Though I do find it annoying that customers think its the fault of the company for their in-ability to purchase their own product correctly.

Thats like buying a V8 sports car and complaining to the garage that your only getting 15MPG as you ideally wanted something that would do 40MPG.

You can return it if you don't want it. AFAIK you might have to pay a restocking fee. Not sure if it still has to be sealed though.

Anyway is a ATI X1300 a good HTPC videocard? It's passive.

supposed to, yes. do they? no.

locutus12`s ATI failure theory... anything with a 6 in the model number turns out bad.

9600 - Crap
9600PRO - so/so
9600XT - WHY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! was 35% more than a pro for 5% more performance.
9600SE - Laughed so much I peed a little.
X600 - Laughed myself into a coma
X1600PRO - Laughed myself out of aforementioned coma
X1600XT - Please someone pass me an incontinents pad.

lol - by law you have to accept the return, and may i add, he never said it was your fault, he has made a mistake, and is heeding the advice to rectify it, which he is well within his rights to do

whilst its not required by law, it is consodered an element of good service to advise your customers on what the best value to performance card is available to them. this would make OCUK look good to its customers (provided it gave the right advice) and cut down on your returns for the O.P.`s reasons.

its as clear as day that the X1600XT was a bad choice for him, 30 seconds of advice and he would be playing as happy as larry now. And you cant blame him for not knowing, those that dont know what to buy come to shops like OCUK and small businesses like mine on Trust and Faith, 2 things that seem to get lost to big companys in the persuit of higher profits (i.e. pushing out more stock). They Trust that the company will advise them in the best possible way, and they have faith in the company and its advice.

First of all I have said he can return it no issue.

Secondly when adviced is asked for I will openly say don't buy an X1600 they are absolute crap and steer clear of them. Unfortunately when someone just goes onto the website and places an order its impossible to advice them.

From a sales point of view were not going to stop list such items as then we would lose sales to the competition so we still have to offer everything but wherever possible advice the better product. :)

I'm with Gibbo. Why buy a graphics card and then decide to do your research using the OcUK forum which is free to access?

The shop has provided a means of advice and it's been used to late. Yes he is entitled to send it back but if it were my business I'd be a bit miffed.

Do your research then buy the product.

cant you just redirect anyone wanting an X1600 to a different card on the website? :p send them a different card lol, anything but selling them an X1600 :D

feel free to use this quote across any pictures you have of the X1600 on the shop website

"Dont be an eboneezer, spring the extra £20 and buy something that performs better than monkey poo"

When buying new hardware it doesn't take a lot to search around the internet and find out what cards are the best in any given price range.

There are forums hardware review sites,A whole plethora of info at ones fingertips.

Its his own fault he bought the thing not anyone elses.
