X2 4400+ Stock Temperatures

No my board is an Ultra-D. Issue seems to be with all Lanparty UT boards though. If you have the 2006 BIOS you can calibrate the CPU temp. Obviously unless you have a probe you wont know how far off your temps are so it will only be a guess. I put mine to +10. 32C seems more realistic than 22C and even if it is too much, better safe than sorry :)

Me too choose +10c :) . I don't know if that make it correct, but I do it to make sure the 60c shutdown-tempthingy work :p

I reckon I am pretty close with my calibration as 32C or there abouts is roughly what an X2 4400 should be I think.

It is a little worrying though because DFI is supposed to be a 'clockers board and it cant even tell you the correct temperature :p

I think if I go ahead with my plans for OCing I would either consider a temp probe [not ideal as it would mean IHS removal for most accurate reading] or adding another 5 degrees to the already calibrated temp to be absolutely sure.

Still, I may try my CPU in my brothers rig to see what real temps are. Just hope his board supports X2 :D

You don't need to remove IHS to mount a probe on it. Just mount it on the side of the IHS. It's good enough, the IHS is copper after all. All though I'm tempted to remove it from my x2 3800+ :D

Well I wont be removing mine just yet lol. Know of any good probes I could use on the IHS... how best is it to secure them?

I got slim to none experience with propes, but I would imagine some AS thermal adhesive(epoxy thingy :p ) mixed with AS ceramique would be nice :) . You would obviously have quite a thick layer then...

Well my X2 4200 is around 37-39 idle and 47-50 full load (After 7 hours of BOINC'ing). So I would serioulsy think that your temps are out :p

I'm gonna get a new HS though. Zalman thingy :D

Do the dual cores run much hotter than the normal 64's? as i've got a 3500+ slightly overclocekd here thats at 30c full seti load for days now and the case temp is 25c, with the cheapest heatsink on ocuk site for under £4 and no thermal paste used. Idle case 25 CPU 26.

They do run a bit hotter, yes, but as a few others here, including me, your sensor is completely wrong! God, I really can't believe people actually think they idle at ambient temp and load 5c hotter... :o

And you're not using thermal paste??????? Your cpu is probably boiling :D

No thermal paste, your having a laugh right? No way can your CPU be that cool on full load with no thermal paste especially overclocked, get some paste in there now!

That's if his heatsink hasnt welded itself to the IHS :p

I dont think its so bad, it cant under read by more than 10ºC surely so thats only 40c full load which isnt too bad. It doesnt crash now (had a problem with a hdd and error checked it and now its fine) and 100% load 24/7 it cant be that bad. I'll leave it until the cpu burns out. :o

i have just built an opteron 165 + DFI pc and i get 55c load with 1.5v, all this talk of dfi reading low has me worried now.

Yeah, I first thought my sensors were pretty accurate. Idled at around 30c, and load at around 45-50c with stock cooler. After changing to water I now dual prime at 25c :D . Turned out my sensors were wrong :p

People have reported between 10C and 20C offsets - so yes it can be more than 10C :D

Generally speaking though it is around 10C - hence the new calibration option in the latest BIOS only going up to +10C

Ok thanks for that. I took the heatsink off the other day and found that it does have thermal paste on...must have already been at the bottom of the heatsink. Now its running at 25c case temp and 31c cpu temp full load..I guess this is really in the region of 40c though.

just got one of these, the ADV4400xxxxxx (89W) version. It runs at around 35C idle and upto 50C on prime orthos for 20mins. These temps are at stock, are they ok? I plan on overclocking, what temps should I try and stay under? 60?
