Received my card but whatever drivers I use (The HIS drivers supplied with the card and the ones on the ATI site) I cannot run any games or 3dmark programs. 3dmark05/06 both hang and I get ctd when trying to play any games (CS:S, BF2, Stalker, C&C).
I upgraded from an x1950pro and used driver cleaner after un-installing all the ati software/drivers before installing the new x2900 drivers/software.
I'm assuming i've installed the card properly but since there was no manual I connected 1 6 pin connector to the 6 pin slot ans 1 6 pin connector to the 8 pin slot is this correct?
Normal windows and browsing works fine just all 3d apps refuse to load/work :confused:

that's about it.

You do have to put 2x 6 pin connectors in the card only one 6pin slot available so put the other in the 8 pin slot can someone confirm this is correct pls.

What's worse is, he's posting while he's eating. Increasing the time it takes to eat! :eek:

If you're going to eat instead of putting a new graphics card in, at least do it as efficiently as possible. :p

I'll be installing vista at the weekend so was just trying to get it working in xp to make sure the card wasn't faulty.

I've managed to get into bf2 (took 10 mins to do the video settings) and I got a whooping 30fps @1680x1050 all high and 4aa which is complete pants tbh. My 1950pro managed 90+fps so something is definately wrong.

Has anyone another source for the drivers just incase the ati ones I downloaded were corrupt.

According to Anandtech you need 2x 6-pin connectors at a minimum.

Yes, Gibbo used 2x6p connectors with his card, and he could even overclock it.

Yes this is correct it is what I have done with mine. Which drivers are you using?
