X³: The Reunion

Masterk, if I install that mod, will I be able to start story mode and do the Bala Gi missions as normal? I'm going to start the game again and i'm going to install all the mods I need before I start story mode :)

So.. is this an "official" expansion? Or just a mod?

Do we start an entirely new game in order to play it?

This could be the excuse I've been looking for to take up playing x3 again :p

been playing xtm for a while, a very nice mod with a lot of new additions.

its not perfect there still a few issues but it is stable and balanced. going from xtm back to the stock game just shows you how empty the space is between the m6's and m1/2's. plus it has a whole host of other ships from light m3's to factory ships.

it is a big install though a 300meg download unzips into a gig.

since that video was made the model conversion software was upgraded to add things like bump mapping and new features.

My brother's just gave me this game, he said he couldn't get into it. I've never played any of these games before so I'm not sure if I'll like it but I'm going to give it a go. Just a couple of questions though before I do.

Do I have to have the game fully patched up before I install the xtended mod?

I don't have a joystick so does the game play fine with just mouse and keyboard?

Yes. You really want the patches anyway, they fix a lot of bugs / issues.

No, you don't *need* a joystick, but I strongly suggest you get one. The game doesn't play too well with the mouse as the primary controller.

Thanks for that, can anyone recommend me a good cheap joystick for this? It's been years since I last used one on my PC!

I play with a Saitek Dual Analogue P2500. Plays flawlessly. They'll go for about £15 - £10 plus you can play other games on it, driving and football games for example :)

Started playing again a few nights ago. But the humble trader hauling stuff was boring. I play vanilla version 2.5 so i dont use XTM anymore or any scripts as i see it cheating myself. I psoted to this thread as it appears to be the 'unofficial' X3 thread. I wonder if a mod could change it to the 'offical' thread like others :P

I started a new game as a Bankrupt Assassin for a challenge and its so much fun :) You start off with neutral relations with Split, Argon and Teladi while Boron and Paranid hate your guts.

It puzzled me as to why last time i tried it when i hunted them, the police used to come after me and kill me. But i realised what i was doing wrong hehe. If your in Argon space, you can kill paranids all you want but you cant kill Boron's as they are neutral to Argon. The same is with Split, you can kill Boron in their space but not paranid.

Once i figured that out, i went to Family Whi and started blowing up Boron ships all over the place. They already hate my guts so whats a little more hatred :P I was amazed at two things. How fast my bank balance went up and how fast my Split standing went up.

In the first two hours, i capped at least 6 Boron freighters and sold them at the Teladi shipyard in Seizewell to increase my Teladi rank slowly as well and my bank balance to around 800'000 credits. After 6 hours game time (including spells at SETA x10) I'm half way to the rank required to pilot the Split M3 Mamba (although im already flying one) and the M6 Dragon.

One thing that always annoyed the hell out of me though was when a frieghter would launch half a dozen fighter drones. They would take ages to kill. But the solution is cheap and simple :) Mosquito Missiles :D Yes, they actually have a use. They track well enough to follow the drone and can travel up to 13km and one missile pops a drone, so no more having to try and shoot the damn things with BHEPT's. F?ire a missile and as long as it clears your ship without being shot, its just a matter of waiting :D

Making a run though Boron space to get to Argon space to pop some paranid was interesting as well. Trying to avoid that M2 and fighters chasing and shooting at you in Menaleus's Frontier was fun :D But because of the difficulty being very hard. I noticed that pirate alley was packed full of pirates :D I just want to get hold of a couple of Hammerheads so i can one shot some Boron/Paranid M6's and TL's in one shot hehe :D

My goal in this game is to work up to getting the Split M2 and loading it out and going to sit in one of the Boron core systems and destroying everything :P Before heading to Xenon sectors for a little chaos :D
