So AMD definitely looking to increase the life span of their AM4 platform with the announcement of the 5500X3D and 5700X3D

I've not seen any prices yet, but I reckon likely £200-£250 ish maybe.

What are peoples thoughts on these, Is it worth them doing these now, or should they concentrate on AM5.

I have mixed thoughts being on AM4 already (5700X) as they wouldnt give me enough of an improvement in my eyes to go for but I think someone on a 3xxx series might be quite tempted by one of these to stay on platform a bit longer.

Why not ? anything that extends the lifespan of a system somebody already owns is a good thing, and the whole point of pc building. One and done motherboards were a rip-off, might as well buy a console.

they are still not going to be worth it for new builders 95% of the time, but every "new" product shouldn't have to be.

The 5500X3D might be good for a budget gaming setup or a cheap upgrade from an older zen hex core but the 5700X3D seems a bit pointless unless it’s below £200 as the 5800X3D can already be had for £260 on deals so going for a chip that’s only a few quid cheap yet has a drop of 400mhz on the clock speed is quite a substantial downgrade for only a small saving.

As a 5800X owner none of these chips interest me, I might have gone for a 5800X3D had it dropped below £200 but at this point I’m waiting for Zen5 to hopefully see a more worthwhile upgrade although if I was still on a 3000 series or below then I’d have gone for a 5800X3D.

5950X3D at £700 please.
Who in their right mind is going to pay £700 for a 5950X3D these days when you can get a 7900X3D which will outperform in every way + an AM5 board and 32 DDR5 for a similar price.
My basket at OcUK:

Total: £739.93 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Whats the point of even announcing these CPU's if they are only exclusive to the US!?!?!

Might aswell make them available to OEM's only.
Speculation was that the 5600X3D was an 5800X3D CPU that had 2 cores disabled because they weren’t good enough to make the cut and somewhat small numbers.

Not sure why these exist tho but I’m sure it’ll be the same as before being launched only in the USA .

It’s probably because they know that they can shift them there as it’s a huge market.

One state can clear out and entire holding of CPUs if they are popular enough, shipping is cheap and easy and AMD is just another business, looking to make money.

Having just finished a 7800x3d new build for my brother and getting hands on exp (tweaking bios, pbo, ram) the most annoying thing was the long boot up time due to ddr5 training? and imo small fps difference at 1440p.

Its made me think twice about upgrading from am4 to am5, id rather swap out my 5600x to a 5800x3d and use the money saved from mb/ram and put that towards a 7900xtx

300+ for a decent MB alone is bonkers

How long are we talking ?

For me on a B650 Tomahawk it takes about 40 seconds from power on to windows login. My old X570 takes about 30 seconds by comparison so doesn't seem too bad.
