Has anyone had any problems with the new crucial tracer memory, I can't get the pc to boot with it in, soon as I use a different brand it's fine, the tracer memory does work in a p67 system fine..

Going back yrs I had this problem with the asus formula. X38 and then rampage x48' nothing but memory errors with ballistix memory, now with the latest x79 asus board and tracer memory again problems lol..

Ive got exactly the same problem now on mine...

Works fine with corsair or kingston - put in the tracer and nothing...

Looks like its all going back, thats on Rampage IV with latest BIOS.

Yeah I have that board as well, tried all the bios versions but no joy, think I will give it a wk and see if anyone finds a fix or try myself.

When I had this prob on the x38/48 I used to up the nortbridge volts and it would run for 6 months then fail, so I would just rma it.. :)

Yeah, I will msg them tomorrow. But like the past crucial said they don't support this board at this time.. Very strange that some memory with LEDs effects the performance on some boards, it's not like it uses more volts as it uses less than my ripjaw :s

My pc is in bits at the minute, you could try manually up the ram volts to 1.6v with some memory that works then put the tracer in.. Just a idea ,

Make sure you send it back before its a week old or they wont refund you and dont forget to get postage refund as well.

From another site

Hi al,

Forum newb so bare with me,

I purchased 2 kits of 2 x 2GB DDR3 Smart Tracer Ballistix PC3-12800 CL8, 1.65V w/XMP Red/Green modules.

I installed them in my brand new asrock z68 extreme7 gen3 board and they worked fine for 2 days.

Suddenly the MOD util did not recognize my memory modules and also stated that my mb was not supported.

I already checked if the mem was supported and according to the crucial site it is (guaranteed).

So i started removing modules and replacing them until i found the defective module. Out of 4 there is one that screwing everything up no matter in which slot i place it. It doesnt even let me boot my system anymore with that dimm installed. With the 3 working dimms all works fine and they are correctly detected.

So, i cannot adjust the colors or poatterns, it doesnt display my temperatures and the partnr for that specific dimm module is "???????????" So i am guessing RMA, does anyone have any other ideas? If more information is needed pls tell me.

Also if i need to RMA, do i send all 4 or 2 modules or just the one thats defect?

regards

the kit is rma and now at the lab for review. sadly another dimm just showed the same issue. so a second rma has been been and ill send that when the other one returns. Hope its just a bad batch. ....

send all 4 they could be a bad batch, from the past I sent 6 sets back of ddr2 tracer and it would go bad after 1-6 months in the end they sent me some none tracer memory and that stuff is still going in my mates pc 2yrs later.. Big fail for crucial if this is going down the same road as before.. How can they fu!! It up twice lol maybe I'm wrong and it's a bios problem but still odd

what bios version have you tested with? emailed asus directly telling them the memory make/model? they will send you a modified bios to try

Tried with the orginal (I think it was 6***) and latest 1005 with "enhanced dram compatibility"

Yes I am returning them as thats the advice ive been given - unless there is a bios out there worth trying.. Who can you email to get a beta?
