I'm at my sisters up in Lincoln and I'm looking after her kids. As a thank you, she got me an Xbone controller as she remembers me moaning about my worn out 360 controllers.

So, before I head home tonight and test it out, will it work with the wireless receiver I have? If not, I'll take it back to the place she bought it from before I leave.

As for the controller it's self, I think I prefer the feel of it. It's certainty catered towards tiny hands. So mine sort of clumber over it like large shovels. The 2 shoulder buttons have very different 'clicks'. The right being a lot louder and sharper than the left. The sticks are lighter and smaller. But feel... 'tighter'?

Thoughts? Anyone else upgraded to the new controller? Any compatability issues with games? I assume it's button layout would be identical to previous games.

I'm fairly sure you need to use the cable to connect to the controller to PC.
Don't think a wireless adapter has been created for it.

The Xbox One controller is definitely a step up from the Xbox 360 one, I do need to get one myself.

I'll return it then... As I sit on the sofa and game with the 360 pad viewing a 50" plasma.

That's a real shame.

Keep it and get a long USB cable? Your hands will forgive you after a few hours.

Do the original drivers work? Do games recognise it as a 360 controller? As if there is one thing I love with the 360 controller is the effortless and seamless transition most games have. You turn the controller on and the UI updates to the 360 layout and button prompts etc. If it does that. Then maybe. I already have long (5m) USB cables.

Won't work with wireless receiver.
There are specific drivers to download for the xb1 controller from Major Nelsons site.
Rumble is enabled.
Impulse triggers are game dependent I think but they have never worked for me.
Xb1 is usb only I'm afraid.

Fyi someone posted the wiiu pro controller works in another thread via bluetooth, maybe worthwhile investigating going down that route if you want wireless.

I've decided to return it and stick the funds towards a Wii U I've been craving for a while (no consoles anymore). I'll certainty be picking up a xbone controller the moment they sort wireless out. I love the feel of it.

I'm in the same boat as you Agnes, love the ease of use of the current 360 controllers. The moment the Xbone pads can be used wirelessly on the PC I will buy a couple.

No because of 2 reasons, the analogue stick placement and the small size of it, it's not made for normal sized hands at all.
The PS4 pad also has terrible battery life. I use my Xbox360 controller as a stand in mouse a fair bit using Xpadder besides gaming so I use up more battery life than most, so I just throw in another set of Eneloops when it's running low. I hate how Sony's controllers always use crap internal battery packs.
