Hey, I'm thinking of getting the X360 Wired Controller for racing games like NFS: Most Wanted.

Does it work fine on racing games, recognised properly? Especially NFS:MW.

I think they are in need of a driver revision or two. At the moment i find that the analogue stick doesnt centre correctly (or return to a dead spot correctly) so when playing racing games cars always pull a little to the left or right and you always have to make corrections to keep it in a straight line. Dont get me wrong it is useable, just a little awkward. A driver update should hopefully fix this though. I've only got the demo of NFS:Most Wanted on PC, but it is a problem that i've noticed quite heavily on it. I have NFS:Most Wanted on the 360 and the way the pad reacts feels completely different between the 2 platforms.

Yeah the 360 pad is recognised fine by the PC. Not used it in games yet so I can't comment on that. Hopefully it will be supported fully and updated if there are problems at the moment. Would be nice to have a good control pad for the PC for a change.

Not sure about racing, but i got one of these recently and can't get it set up properly at all in GTA: San Andreas. The right stick and the two triggers can't be selected at all it seems.

ok, doesn't work with vibration at the mo, dead zones won't adjust in windows and the middle button doesn't work on PC. but apart from that they're the best windows controller going.

I've got a spare wireless pad that i could use on the pc, would it work if i bought ymself one of those charge whilst you play packs, so that it'll be bale to plug into the usb port of the pc or will i just have to go out and buy a wired controll pad?

aye dead zone is an annoyance really, force feedback would be nice, also would be nice if the triggers were 2 independant axis i suppose, its annoying not being able to use both at the same time

just been playing on NFS: Most Wanted with the pad and it works great. Best pad i've had for PC without a doubt (saitek, microsoft sidewinder etc). Vibration doesnt work but i dont think its an option in the game. Every button on the pad is useable, including the 'start' button and the 'back' button. Good stuff :D

(and what a game! must.. turn.. off.. computer.. and.. sleep..!)

shame wireless one dont werk werk. ms should release a transmitter or some thing for the wireless pads

Yes the game *does* support vibration, and it does work with other pads - just not the MS one which uses a different vibration system. It is unclear whether MS will ever bring out a driver which provides backwards compatibility with existing games, or indeed basic configuration options like analogue stick deadzones.

At present it is hard to recommend anyone buy the controller. Great controller, shocking drivers.

I have one and it works well with need for speed but i agree that a driver update is needed because in some other racers its not so clever .
