Xbox 360 graphics

not sure mate.

Really?
i dont understand what you mean.. PCs are multi-purpose machines. Consoles are gaming machines.. when would you buy a console to do anything else other than gaming?

the XBOX was released in 2001 iirc and the 360 at the end of 2005.. thats around 5 years.

Its already old imo :)

But will still outlast your pc (In its current spec) without needing to be upgraded.

This arguement could go on and on but at the end of the day most people I know who have a 360 also have a pc so they game on the 360 and work on the pc. (Or in my case I game on both and enjoy both)

For me the main advantage of the PC over the xbox is online gaming, not talking about the games them selves but the whole community that builds up around pc games online eg xfire, forums, personnal clan servers etc. To say that the xbox has more/bester games means nothing to me as out of all the games that hit the market 90% are rubbish on the PC and from what I see in the game shops 98% are rubbish on consoles. Even the good ones dont hold my attention for long. I will generally only finish 2 games a year. However I have gamed online for about 8 years now, so until a console can provide that same level of comunity as the pc I wont be buying one regardless of cost.

Also have to agree with above " consoles are for kids " :p true because they cant aford a desent PC

The fact is I can upgrade my pc when i choose. My pc is more powerful now than an xbox.

Was around at a mate's last night and OBLIVION looks so much better on my pc than his xbox.

Load times are quicker.Smoother gfx etc..

With an xbox you get what you are given. And thats it.

Where's the fun in that? :)

how is it old when another console hasnt been released? and not even all of the hardware is being utilised yet.. and the hardware that is being utilised isnt being so to its best potential. you cant compare it to a PC as they taylor for different markets. My PC is'nt outdated yet, it is getting there but its not yet and my hardware has been released a few months more than the 360.

consoles and PCs were never designed to compete with each other. PC is something you use for everything like work and gaming etc. a console is something you use to game on and thats it. the 360 is a set platform, no need to upgrade over the course of 4-5 years as no games will come out with a higher requirement.

this armgument is pointless as you simply cannot compare the two.

the fun is in lying back on your couch with the HD tv you could afford because you didnt have to build a pc. you can play online with people of the same ability as you, on exactly the same hardware and can have the best fun ever basically..

i prefer playing games on my pc.. but i dont enjoy HAVING to spend money on it every couple of months. the console is there.. no need to upgrade.. no need to spend more money on it.

That's odd. Every shot I have seen on any forum of the pc game doesn't look as good as it does on my 360 running through my TFT monitor at 1280x1024 (HD).

But I suppose people see things differently.

The fact still stands the 360 is fantastic at what it does - gaming and thats it.

I enjoy mine and anyone who I have spoken who owns one enjoys theres too.

I enjoy my pc too although I am getting fed up of having to spend more money whenever a new game is realased that is so poorly coded it won't even play on a high end system.

Like people are going to be using the xbox 360 in 5yrs time!lol :p

Pull the other one.

I'm not dissing the xbox.It does its job. What I am doing is highlighting the fact that pc gaming is more advanced, more tweakable etc...

Hundreds are popping up all over in the second hand sector because people believed the hype. And realise PC gaming will always be top.

Forgot to mention I bought OBLIVION for 19.99

My mate with the xbox didn't :D

People are still using the PS2 5/6 years after it was originally launched. I can't see the 360 being much different.

I will definately agree with you though that pc gaming is much more tweakable although that is one thing that makes me want to game more on the 360 the fact that I don't have to tweak it.

Plus I got Oblivion for nowt :D (albeit I traded in 3 other 360 games and got a credit note for the difference)

Yeah but not hardcore gamers.

You got oblivion for nowt  :p

No you didnt you traded in 3 games costing 150 quid!

The price of a 7600 GT offering great gaming performance!

£150  I don't pay full price for my games lol. I got all of mine for £37.99 so 'only' just under £120. :)

I see where you are coming from though.

TBH though I prefer the simplicity of gaming on the 360 compared to my pc although a blast of COD2 on the pc is fantastic. However spending hours on end on oblivion (not that I do that of course  ) would be horrible hunched over my desk compared to lying on my bed.

Isn't Vista going to allow people to connect their 360s to their PCs? To what end I'm not sure but it sounds interersting.

I think the 360 is pretty good bang for buck and owners will always be able to play games at the intended highest setting - without reaching for their wallets.

All said and done I'll stick with me PC though :)

People visit this site cos its aimed at the Overclocking community, if you can overclock a 360 then great  . I overclocked my teflon baking sheet once, no i didnt actually

Well a pc can play the game upto 2048x1536 while the 360 is stuck at 1280x720 so thats proabably why it looked better. ;)

I play it on my 360 @ 1280x1024. (native resolution for my monitor).

No doubt it should look better on a pc at 2048x1536 but then again I dread to think how much a pc would be including the monitor to be able to play it smoothly at max settings.

This thread is funny. All the people who love their 360s defending it to death. :p

The 360 is a powerful piece of kit, but to even consider it being able to beat a PC visually, & in general, is just ignorence of how the technology works.
The fact of the matter is that even now, the 360's theoretical graphical abilities are beaten with current gen gfx cards. Next gen will dwarf it.
Yes the 360 costs less. Yes developers can 'code to the metal' to get more out the 360, but at the end of the day, it is still limited in a lot of ways.
And yes, the PC does cost more. But it does FAR more. The 360 is a neutered media center, that plays games. A PC can do far more things. And thats why theres a price difference thats so big.
