Xbox 360: Keyboard and Mouse adapter for Fps games?

I think they should ban crap like this, this sort of attitude to gaming is the reason I will never again play PC online. So few people actually play to enjoy the game.
 
I have been console gamin for 15 years+ I have had my 360 live account for over 6 years, I have recently started playing on PC's in the last year.

So what if some uses a K/B mouse? Its no more unsporting than spawn camping the opposition. Nor s it no more unsporting than using part chat when the devs dont want you to talk when your dead.

If your getting beat by someone with a Kb/m raise your game, change your tactics.

What you all going to do when MS release their next updated console? Which has more power and will give players higher frame rates? The extra performance and benefit you'll gain comes at a premium that some wont be able to afford, just like the K/M adaptor. Is this unfair.

I'm about to stop playing on xbox due to the majority of its populace being whingers and immature.

Buy your adaptor, your welcome to play against me anytime.

Steroids don't make your stronger, they make the muscle recover quicker so you can work out more often. Taking them prior to a kick about will gain you no advantage.

One is a valid tactic (although majorly annoying) and is actively prevented by alternating spawn points. The other is gaining an advantage that no developer or amount of skill is able to change.

And how, may i ask, is one supposed to overcome a hardware limitation with skill alone? Someone using a pad cannot turn as fast, or aim as precisely as they can with a keyboard and mouse.
 
In the same way that when i play on my PC people have better pings from proximity to servers, better polling mice for more accurary, better graphics card for FPS (pluss 300 in COD = no recoil).

You learn, Adapt, endure and finally win.

Most people who moan amount Kb/M have no experience in using one, the advantage is not that great, especially with teh auto aim on the 360 and the larger hit boxes.

I often use my pad on teh PC when I dont want to sit at the desk, I can still maintain my kill ratio
 
You were trying to underline how KB/M makes it unfair for everyone else by using and non valid comparison.

Everyone on XBOX with their pads think they are all high an mighty bar a few exceptions and think they can tell other what they can and cant do with their own cash and xbox,

his money, His XBOX, live is open.

Untill MS do something to stop the devices from working its open and fair.

nothing is stopping everyone else out there buying one, so its not the OP preventing it from being a level playing field its you not deciding to buy one.

I'm happy with my pad, and i'll be happy to play against anyone with a KB/M because I know i can still beat them
 
I wouldn't say anybody in this thread is whining. It's inevitable that people would want to play on fair terms. You'd get the same response if someone started a post about buying an aimbot.

It's the justifications that are used which are truly gold.

"Nothing's stopping you from getting one, so it's fair if I get one!"

So by your definition if anything isn't explicitly prevented then its all fair game? I guess I'll just fire up those wall and aim hacks, I wouldn't worry though; by the sounds of it your 15 years of console experience you won't have any trouble as you'll just learn, Adapt, endure and finally win. ;)

The reality is there's very little they can do to prevent these devices because as far as the console is concerned it thinks a regular game pad is connected.

If the game supports mouse and keyboard, like say UT3 on the PS3, then fair play. If you're having to use a £100 converter that uses black magic to trick the console in to thinking it has a game pad attached then it's not, as several other people have already explained. I don't think anyone's getting whiney about it.

I think you'll also find most people here, what with this being a forum for computer enthusiasts, have considerable experience of using a keybaord and mouse for playing games. ;) If the advantage was not that great then Epic wouldn't have felt the need to include a feature which allowed you to filter between game pad and keyboard/mouse servers in UT3, as an example.
 
I cant believe some of you are comparing wall hacks and aim bots to a peripheral. The difference here is that cheats ARE against games rules, hence why things like punk buster and VAG etc exist to stop people using them.

Seriously though, people are allowed their own opinions and until MS do something to stop it being used or its classed as a "cheat" I see no reason why people cant use it?

You say it as if when you use a kb/m you don't get the "auto aim" and larger hit boxes....:confused:

I'd say the modification of a console or game to gain an advantage is a cheat, it doesn't have to be software based.

If you're going to stick your ground and say it's still not a cheat, I'd class it in the same bag as turbo-controllers, and stuff you get on PC like auto-reload and bunny hop scripts. Still extremely lame.

Firstly, it would be down to each individual game developer rather than Microsoft as whole to detect and punish.

Secondly as most people have pointed out, there's likely no way of detecting the controller due to it mimicking the input from a real controller.
Even if there was, I'm fairly sure the people that make this mod would find a way to get around it in their next revision.
As soon as VAC or Punkbuster learn of a new hack, there's always an new yet undetectable one ready to take it's place.

And me, do you think he'd be willing to play L4D with some of the OcUK lot? I'm fairly sure it even supports game pads for him!
 
Can you imagine these KB/M clowns going round to their friends house for a few games of COD and having to explain why they are no where near as good as they are online ;)

Or turning up to a tournament with a kb/m adapter ;)
