Xbox 360 mod project log

Small Update

Ok. So in order to make the new radiator fit the amount of tubing between the pump and the T-piece needed to be much less... this meant a capacitor was in the way of the fittings so I took off the cap and soldered it onto wires that are soldered onto the underside of the board...

Have tested the xbox (for a few seconds to check if it boots) and it works!!

Cheers Enigma! Not long now...

with a bit of luck the quick release fitting will fit well which should come early next week...

Tried filling up the system with the 10/8 tubing (am swapping it with 3/8 tubing) ... anyway, it just wouldnt fill so.. the plan is to fill the rad, screw on the quick release.. then fill the system (without rad in) the quick release of course stopping leaks, then i can attach them and there will be very little bubbles to eek out!!
 
Project on hold..

Ok, project is on hold for a while...

ordered some fittings from ocuk on the 22nd jan... a week later they told me the tubing is out of stock... fair enough. so i removed that from the order... yet still although i have called 3 times, and have confirmed everything is in stock, it still has not been posted...

So... really hoping i get these fittings soon... :) as i said... ocuk have never let me down yet :/
 
Update

Ok, so the quick release fittings dont work, they are too big to fit inside the small xbox... so i had to think of another way... my solution was to route the tubing under the dvd drive to give enough slack to be able to remove the top... Awaiting one more anti kink coils so that i can start filling probably in about a week to finish from now... with any luck..

Penultimate update.

Ok. So I have filled the system and bled. Now, I have once final problem to overcome.. The compression fitting on the block its the fins on the fan so i need to swap that for a 15mm thick one...

Will do that early next week then final pictures by next weekend...

Thanks guys!! Means a lot!! I'll tell you what though... its got the point where working on it feels like a chore!!

Oh well... Ive pretty much done it now... all i need to do now is swap the noctua for the 15mm thick fan which i will do tomorrow.. or wednesday, depending on delivery... Ill borrow my bro's D-SLR for final pictures!!

Ok guys! Have been working non stop on a DT deadline, which is tomorrow... so after tomorrow there is no more work and I PROMISE i will get the pictures done as soon as i get home!! :D

BTW... above it looks like the panel is not even... actaully, the plastic just needs fixing back down... it came loose... so it is actaully staright.

Temps seem fine.. there are no temp sensors on the 360 so I can't know for sure but they seem fine!
It is very quiet... possibly could have uswd more anti vibration materials on the pump but its ok. Im calling it a day on this project!!

Anyway have you noticed any improvement in gaming as I feel some games run faster and have less tearing on high res. Would be interested to see if you notice the same or mine was a placebo effect :)

I dont really play games ironically!!! So I wouldn't know!! But it seems fine. no teraing or anything!

Yup... that was the hardest part... At one point I thought I would completely fail in this aspect until i found a way of fitting the tubing underneath the dvd drive while still the dvd drive fitting properly!

Thinking about a desk with the pc inside, visible through a glass top like a cabinet display! It would have watercooling components nicely spread out, made of aluminium and a glass top....

wow! thats dedication! Thanks very much mate!! Bringing the xbox to an 'arkwright' engineering interview on wednesday, after passing the exam a few weeks ago :S, its a scholarship which will give me in seperate installments £1000 plus a good cv boost for uni applications! Wish me luck!!
