Hi All,

Just a bit of help required here as it is sending me mental. I have a Linksys 54G router which is absolutely sound! I have a network cable leading from the office into a wall plate through the house coming out of the wall.

Now when I dont connect the cable to the hub and run a test on the cable with my lan tester, it confirms that it is a straight through cable. So I plug the cable into the Linksys router and then the other end into a GigaX1005 hub, I only have one device connected to the GigaX(along with the cable to the hub) and this is my Xbox 360. This is connected by a straight though hard wired connection to the xbox.

When I run the Test Xbox Live Connection it confirms it is a wired connection and it collects an IP address, then a DNS, then it randomly fails on MTU & ICMP. It is sending me whappy, is there anyone that can help?

Is my cabling correct, I presume so otherwise I suspect I wouldnt even get a IP address.

Any help would be much appreciated

sounds like your cable is ok but the 360 dosent like the MTU packet size and the fact that the router is blocking incoming icmp requests. might need to unblock the ports the 360 uses

Take a look Here and Here for more information and ports that will need to be forwarded for the Xbox360.
