Xbox 360 Slim?

You can't qualify that statement just from your experience. I can counteract it by saying I get 100% wireless signal strength and I always download at my max throughput - 1.4MB/sec on PSN. :)

that does not in anyway help me, still not fit for purpose.

I've used my PS3's Wi-Fi from the start and never had an issue and I've had 3 different routers since owning my PS3, I nearly get max bandwidth when downloading, nat type 2, and I can stream 1080p to my system with a hitch using PS3 media server.

Do you have UPnP enabled on your router? and when you run the 'Internet Connection Test' on your PS3 does it state that UPnP is 'available' ?

i appreciate the help, but my PS3 is working fine connected to cable.

3 laptops, wii and 360 run through wireless as intended on my router, the ps3 is the only one that gave problems.

To be honest, Its more likely a setup problem. Chances are its advanced settings that arent correct, Port setup, etc.

Allowing PS3 to have internet access in a DMZ generally makes problems go away. But as said previously by a few members, Wireless generally works flawlessly. I'm not saying that's the case for everyone, just searching PS3 wireless faults brings up plenty of problems.

But to put the blame on PS3's as a whole is silly considering the amount working far exceeds the amount not working, and considering DMZ is the general solution. That proves even moreso that its a setup problem with the router AND PS3

MS must be laughing all the way to the bank with the current xbox's so its about time an 'improved' one arrived

if it doesnt sound like a jet engine because of a £2 dvd drive (in a £200 rrp console ffs) and has wireless built/thrown in then id probably upgrade on release day

do people still play games off the disc these days?

whats confusing about that? outside of an arcade console, every 360 has a hard drive. install the game on the hdd - no optical drive noise.

i dont see what the issue is? my drive is noisy as ****....for the 2 seconds or so it takes to check the game disc.

I guess those with the 20gb hdd like myself I can only really install one game at a time.

I normally switch between 2/3 games....

That's fair enough. Ive got a 120gb drive, cost me £35, but tbh i dont see the point in trying to install every game i own when like yourself i only play the same couple of games regularly anyway. I think ive got 5 or 6 installed really.

i just dont think that the optical drive noise is a reason to upgrade the console, lol, the hard drives arent that expensive. not if you are prepared to go second hand especially:)

The overall noise would be a reason to "upgrade" to a Slim i guess. Even with games installed to the hard drive, although noise is massively reduced, the 360 fans still aren't the quietest.

Get the 360 to be as quiet as the PS3, then super win tbh.

Personally i don't have an issue with the noise, even before i upgraded the hard drive, but i can see some people still not liking the noise even with just the fans going.

I for one will welcome a newer slim model, it means I can leave my current 360 at my parents and keep my slim with me at work/on ship, where its less likely to fail and cause a chew for me to get repaired(due to living circumstances) and where its easier to stow, and quieter to use.

I love how general conversation about something to do with a console whether its good or bad can be considered bickering. how are you supposed to discuss something in consoles these days without it being seen as so?

I haven't since they enabled install to HDD! I install every game I play.

Less noise and faster loading, not sure why people wouldn't if they had the space.

I'm only on a 20gb drive, but I have done it still for games I know I'm going to be playing for a while. Mass effect, FF13 Disk 3.

I had so many drives give up on me I only ever play from HDD. Even my rentals are installed played, then uninstalled.

Looks a bit like a picture of the HD DVD player
