Xbox 360 Slim?

Don't worry. You get these Pc geeks/microsoft hater guys turning up in Consoles to have a go from time to time. He will have crawled back to his natural habitat, never to be heard from for another 6 months.

I'm far from a MS hater (they make damn good OS's) but all the decent games apart from PGR4 have made it to the PC, any that hasn't already have better games on the PC anyway.

With a combination of PS3 + PC + having to actually pay to get online on the 360 (triple LOL) + failure rate = The 360 doesn't have that much appeal to me

Ah, you're in my camp then. :p

If put in a situation where you needed to move the router away from the machine, would you be happy to spend the extra on an adapter?

Like i said before, I would buy one, but i'd not be happy with having to. They're quite pricey too for what they achieve. £40 last time i checked?

I would run a CAT5 cable round my house. :D

so would i. Every component i have is hard wired through an 8 port gigabit switch, leaving the wireless for hand held devices or when ive got the laptop in the bedroom. i couldnt give a rats about included WIFI, and id happily have it taken out if it were then cheaper to buy.

You did pay for the wifi in your PS3 by the way :p
On the bright side the separate adapter for the the 360 means the new adapter supports 802.1n (as well as b & g) which whilst not a big deal for gaming, is a boon for downloads now you can increasingly by games and movies on live as well as traditional DLC.

Looks less than 3.3" to me kiddo. (Camera angle is weird on the left side. It is lined up)

You do realise all the measures of these kind of things are done at the thinnest part of the hardware? E.g. Macbook Air, PS3 Slim. All those claims of "being slim/thin" were all taken from the thinnest part of the casing.

I bet he goes round telling everyone he has 12" in his undies.

Your mum wasn't complaining last night. ZOMG ZING SCHOOL YARDZ WINZ!!!!!11111

Well "kiddo" it's still well over 2.5" by your count (which is wrong - it's stated in the official specs as 80mm / 3").

This is not under 2" as you estimated earlier, but hey-ho, if you're happy with a >25% margin of error, then ignorance must be bliss :D

I said about 2" thick and then "...or even under..." which is by no means a guess since i just glanced at it beside me.

The Xbox.com website lists the thickest width which is 80mm, obviously they didn't want/think the need to market it as thin because it was thinner than the PS3 phat at the time.

I can guarantee that when/if the 360 Slim does come out, it will be marketed in such a way that the thinnest will be accentuated, just like the Macbook Air or PS3 Slim if you read my post.

Apple did it and im pretty sure Sony did it that way too. They measure the thinnest part and market it at that. At least im pretty sure anyway! :D

My point is my guess was not far wrong on 2" inches for the 360. Its 2.5-2.6" in the thinnest part, so i was pretty close to be fair. I should have said in my OP that i was talking about the thinnest part though.

Ahhh, I didn't read the whole thing in detail but they're capping it at 16GB so no external HDDs. Well, you can, I assume but only 16GB will be useable.

You don't have to pay to go online, by all means you can connect, download demos etc, it's only when you want to start playing games online that you have to pay. I see your point on PS3 + PC being the best combination, I'd tend to agree although most of my online console gaming tends to get done on the Xbox simply because I have more friends on it and enjoy using Xbox Live more than I do PSN.

To say that there aren't any decent games isn't an accurate representation of the system, Forza, Fable, Gears of War (2), Crackdown, Alan Wake and Halo (although not my cup-of-tea) are still good games that are certainly worth spending £150 on a console for. Besides, some games that are on PC I'd rather play from a couch rather than hunched over a desk, seen as that's what I do most of the day when I'm working. :p

Wrong again.

Sony list the maximum thickness of 65mm.

Apple list the range of minimum to maximum thickness (0.4 to 1.94 cm).

QQ?

When they were announced and demoed they were marketed with the thinnest part. Didn't you see the Keynote when they announced the Macbook Air? I am not talking about just the dimensions listed on websites or for boxing etc. Im talking about when they are marketed to the public. The Macbook Air was marketed at this super thin measurement, but that was only the front, it gets bigger as you move to the back of the notebook. When it was first announced at the Keynote it said "only 0.4cm thick" or whatever and then noted "thinnest part".

The PS3 slim tapers down to about <2cm at the front... please feel free to present any marketing material which brags about this. The Apple keynote was nice (we know how full of hot air they are), but can you show me where they tout that number now? (Clue: not here).

I'm certain that legally they cannot market the thinnest point because it's not wholly true/representative of the full product. Otherwise, I could taper all my products down to an edge and market them as 0mm thick.

The current 360 is 3" thick. I hope the new one is thinner, quieter, cheaper etc. End of.

Yea ok i admit that i was wrong about the Slim. Can't find information on the that.

But the Macbook Air was marketed with 4mm part accentuated. Thats all im saying. The new 360 (if there is one) could do the same.

No idea were to find the Keynote. Just remember them saying "blah blah blah only 4mm thick..." etc
