Xbox 720 document leak

Nearly 20 million out of 67 million 360s sold were the slim variant, which has been out for 2 years. The failure rate of the older style 360s were noticeable within a year. There's been no mass documented failure issues for the slim box since its release two years ago.

It's. Been. Fixed.

I just had a quick google and it's far from conclusive.

From what I have just read there are still reports that it suffers from the disc circle scratching problem which is a side issue I know but disappointing all the same.

Also from what I gather the hardware inside the slim is the same as the fat consoles, it appears that the only difference is the cooling/ventilation.

The point I was trying to make is that I'd like to be excited about Xbox but I hate buying products that are unreliable and where product revisions have failed to conclusively address the problems. It doesn't inspire me with confidence.

I didn't really expect to get into a fanboy argument on OCUK, I thought we were all generally quite pragmatic on here with regards to reliability and failure rates on electronics products?

I don't really understand why you're bringing up/comparing to PS3 slim either... What does that have to do with Xbox?

There is more fuss now with the ps3 going wrong then there is the xbox. Not sure why you keeping bringing it up as for most people the problems that plagued the 360 after launch seem to be fixed.

It's not a fanboy discussion, but cheers for that anyway.
I don't own a 360 and haven't done in a while now. You must have noticed me posting in PC gaming forum by now, or the system I have in my signature.

You just keep bringing it up when there's zero basis in slims breaking down all the time when there hasn't been a peep from it, and throwing the old 'you can't prove it' chestnut back in my face.

By all means, don't buy the new Xbox because of your experiences with hardware that has been obsoleted and replaced by superior iterations made with the design intent of reducing/eliminating 3RRoD, which was in fact, caused by ventilation/cooling issues. It's like me refusing to buy a PS4 because I used to have to hang my PS1 upside down to read the game discs.

We can do this all day if you like.
