Xbox 720 document leak

An SSD is a pipedream, the technology is not cheap enough yet for consoles it's still a luxury item in PC's. Consoles could have them but they'd be small, I'd rather have a larger regular hard drive.

Consoles could have them but they'd be small, I'd rather have a larger regular hard drive.

This is the point I was trying to make. Putting SSD in a console will 1. Push up the cost. And 2 limit capacity.

Why would they bother.

It would make miles more sense to put a normal mechanical drive in thats bigger in size. Plus its not like the OS on a console takes that long to load up, and would you be happy losing limited SSD space everytime an update rolls out?

Indeed the benefit to loading times would be minimal (and in fact probably not even noticeable to 80% of the people that would buy the console)

MS have claimed ownership of this document. Source

Which means some of it may be true. But as somebody on CVG comments
so, an ideas presentation, two years out of date - with almost another two years left until launch... means nothing really.

It could also mean the documentation could be wrong or false and they don't want to give out wrong expectations to consumers developers and publishers alike.

If it's indeed real and they wanted to keep a lid on it, the boys over at Microsoft clearly haven't heard of the Streisand Effect.

If the documentation is true, then the next generation is going to be a miserable one. Not a single word about video games in it and Kinect is literally at the forefront and the main gimmick to it.

I can't see it keeping that name simply because people will be confusing it with its HD display capabilities. It'll probably be some dumb ultra-Californian name like Xbox Experience or Xbox Glass or Xbox New or some similar stupid new age thing all the tech corporations seem to be into lately...
