To be fair though, they should always factor in time within the maintenance for problems. Whenever i take a server offline in work for a reboot i am always very conservative with the length of time it will be down for.

Exactly. It's not poor service. It's maintenance so in the future Live can offer you more.

There aren't any problems, they said themselves that they are updating the system

They sent a message over XBL - like I said, there was also an announcement on the inside xbox channel on the dashboard
@ cu3ed - just because it doesn't live up to your expectations doesn't mean that they are bad for updating their systems
But the maintenance time is over and people are experiencing issues?
So they are updating ok, fine..but IM curious just what happinned with COD4 over Chrimbo...are they updating it so it can handle more etc etc!?
I would imagine so yeah, xbox.com has been really slow for me and that was taken offline too
The update a few days was to ‘prepare for future growth of the service.’

I think you are missing the point in the thread. Nobody is moaning that live went down because of maintenance, people are moaning because the time window which the maintenance was supposed to be complete has came and went, yet they are still having issues.

Scheduled maintenance every 3 months or so is fine. Can't have a stable service and no maintenance. just impossible really.

fine here, my boy been playing Halo3 online
I can't even log into single player on vegas 2 when signed into live.
I have to log out then launch the game.
Thought it was my corrupt vegas profile so deleted my xboxeye face and weapons profile to no avail then relised about the "update" bum
Even when I am in live it kicks me out after a bit
MS doing an update that doesn't go to plan, now ther is a first
still this is the first xbox live prob I have ever had
