XBOX Live...sell it to me

xbox live is great, everyone on same level playing ground, £40 a year is nothing, just hope Sony take note cos i've allready seen prices for subscriptions to certain game companys servers using the Sony system with $25 a month (yes a month) to pay if you plan to play them online being suggested

SOE are almost certain to want Everquest online via the PS3, to do it right they'd need a keyboard though.

yeah think that was one of them, i cannot remember but it was like 6 games being mentioned that the $25 fee per month would cover, just hope that this isn't going to become the norm

SOE already run a bunch of MMORPG games EQ, EQ2,Matrix Online, Starwars Galaxies, Planetside and some others and the $25 / month gives you the "right" to play all of them online.
For single game access it is cheaper, I think EQ2 is around £8 a month.

Bear in mind that if you were heavily into any one of these games it is unlikely that you'd be playing any of the others.

This is why I think it unlikely that they are going to struggle running a service like Live! They certainly have the experience and capabilities to do it without a problem. Mind you the price of the console is high, I wonder what games are going to cost.

The people who work at Citroen can make a car that works moderately well. Could they make a car to match the Mercedes-McLaren SLR or make a lorry to match that which Scania chuck out?

In short running an MMO is simple and small compared to running a service like Live. An MMO is essentially a collection of game servers with a centralised payment system. Valve's Steam has more in common with Live than SOE imo.

yep that was it, saw an article saying thats what they will be calling the PS3 Live side of it Station Central or something like it.

Just try it out using your 1 months free sub you get with the console.

If you like it you have three options to keep the Gold Sub.

1 month @ 4.99
3 months @ 14.99
12 months @ 40 (I think).

For games I am interested in Live is a must. BF2:MC is naff in single player mode.

OT but on the subject of xbox live, my wireless router has lost all power, i think its the fuse in the plug, but basically until its fixed, i cant get on xbox live, which is annoying, + ive got to have my laptop plugged in with a USB modem, no wireless :(

Try and find this XBox Live Starter Kit + Project Gotham Racing 2

Its going for £25 sell the game and you could end up with 12 months of xbl gold for £20.

XBL is amazing!

back when i got it in 2003 it changed my life...just being able to play online with people from accross the world is cool as. And from what i've seen its just got better with the 360, think i'm gonna get it again soon :)

hi.
you say you have a brother in canada,on live you can also talk to him all day if you want for free.
when playing on live you tend to play more with the games you have.
you do not get sick of them so easily.
cheers ian.
