**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

No reason why they couldn't have left sharing in for downloaded games. I was just starting to like that idea. Still it'll be better in te long run being able to pick up games cheap 2nd hand like we can now.

Unfortunately the sharing was its main selling point as the playstation is still more powerful, cheaper and doesn't spy on you fapping.

Microsoft just announced no DRM on xbox one

WAIT WAIT... STOP RIGHT THERE. I know this is a PC elite master race gaming forum, but people like me Who have a gaming PC, and STILL buy consoles will find this handy.

No more DRM issues for the xbox one, what are your thoughts?

Personally Im just going to upgrade my GPU, and buy a PS4.

However Kinect will still be on 24/7. I didnt care about any of the other stuff, but that Kinect always on is a invade of privacy.

Because sharing requires server authentication. Something they've had to ditch.

Exactly how I see it, it should off revolutionised digital licenses across many discaplins, now it's an expensive, less powerful, zero bonus box compared to ps4.

Well, we have all the whiners and cry-babies to thank for that. This has killed it in my eyes and is immensely short sighted of the public to push MS into it. The ideas of family share and digital distribution were things I was quite excited about :(

I think this is short term answer, they could come up with a system in future that allows family sharing. I was quite excited for that idea myself

Too little too late..

Tbh, I'm kinda sorry I stuck with the Xbox so long. In the end I was stuck with Halo & Gears of War games that seemed to decrease in quality with every sequel & I've missed out on Killzone, Resistance, Uncharted & The Last of us.

Shame really that the media witch hunt has lead to this :( I wonder how many devs will bother with stuff for always online now.

They better not drop Kinect. It would be nice to see the consoles try something new, Sony are trying nothing, just playing off the hate for MS at the moment. Now MS have backed off too. Where is the innovation?

They say they've "listened to consumers" but it's obvious they were running scared due to the fact the X1 was getting a kicking by Sony for pre-orders. It's still good for us gamers though.
What MS really need to do when the X1 is released is start pricing digital games sensibly. Like make games available on release day and make them £10-20 cheaper than physical copies. Then they may be able to start moving towards digital only.

Don't care frankly, any company who can announce the kind of stuff they did ("We have a system for that" etc) doesn't deserve my money.

Besides, the console is still nearly £100 more expensive than the PS3, they also haven't said anything about the publisher requirements for games.

I love they way it's worded

You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc.

No, people said WTF are you doing and realised it was retarded after Sony owned them at E3.

Thank god for that

But a company that can't look after your credit card details does?

Too much stupid politics over a games console.

Thats a co plete change of direction for them.
The bad press and the good press for their competitors who probably had something similar in mind anyway but failed to announce it, has clearly hurt them.
At the end of th day drm and associated badness wouldnt hurt ms too badly, just the companies that make the games. Ms still make their initial sales. They all make the same proportion from each sale at they will do currently.
If piracy hurts the market it'll hurt them all simultaneously.

This I do not see at all. It was wtf are you doing, as people didnt understand (that's MS fault for not making it clear). If you understood what MS where doing how could you not like it. It's why a lot of people were coming around, once they linked all the snippets together.
mS really need a new PR department and rather than trying to hide at every presentation, just go look this is what we are doing.

Wow, this screams pre-planned to me (since it was such an abhorrently bad idea in the first place), but a lot of effort to go to just to get a few extra free media days...

It's good for some, bad for the gaming population as a whole though for the reason you mentioned yourself. By not embracing this, we've lost digital distribution, family sharing and the desire for many devs to even bother with the online side of things as it's no longer required. We are now stuck with exactly what we had, instead of forwarding the industry.

I've never bought a second hand game in my life, nor has it ever been a huge concern to me *BUT* I do understand that for many, it's a major point.

I had 2 PS4's and 2 XB1's on order so I'm not exactly biased either way.
