Dont see your logic there - sticking the same code (as a massive oversimplification) will generate a 'better performing' game on the PS4 it seems - so if its a matter of time/money then how would they have that resource to either optimise the XO version or unoptimise the PS4 version. As I said a massive oversimplification, but to generate the same performance requires tinkering, so theyll spend money/time to get that parity...The problem with that is that it might not be all down to the developer. They might be under time or financial constraints that force them to have the game look and run the same on both consoles, as opposed to optimising as best they could.

I know you are more optimistic than me when it comes to developers, but seeing them play the politics PR game just doesnt make me think theyll be so platform agnostic as they should be...

Unfortunately I think it's how it will be near the start of the console life cycle, if only until the developers start to fully appreciate the power of both consoles and how to use them. Its a fair and valid point (I didnt see it like that when you first said it), still your example is probably a developer/publisher/game Id probably pass over 9 times out of 10. Im just not interested in lining such pockets anymore, games like TLoU and GTA5 remind me to keep adopting that approach...

Think Ive assumed both are going to be as hard as a developing a PC game (or as close to it) compared to previous generations - perhaps thats naive of me.Unfortunately I think it's how it will be near the start of the console life cycle, if only until the developers start to fully appreciate the power of both consoles and how to use them.
That's of course still assuming that the large PS4 power advantage (spec wise) turns into a big advantage in the real world as well. It might not be as big as people think, in which case that's probably even less incentive for developers to try and make one version better than the other. Again, it's just idle speculation for now. We'll know more over the next 6-12 months I think.

I just thought given the same resources on each platform the outcome would be unlikely to be identical...

Games, games, games. Nothing in the PS4 exclusive line up is really gripping me (never liked Killzone much), while I am a huge huge fan of Dead Rising and Forza. That made it a really easy decision for me. Will still get a PS4, just next year when games like inFamous are out.

Me too! Have only pre-ordered Forza 5 so far. I've not found any other X1 game to play yet.hehe - same - X1 just because of Forza 5![]()

“. Furthermore, if anyone develops a game for Windows 8, they can take that game with almost the exact same code, to the Xbox One. It’s up to the developer if they want to or not.
When asked the follow-up question if a developer could really create something for Windows 8 and get it running on Xbox One using almost the same code, Isogai responded, “Yeah, almost the same code.”

do you think its as simple as they make out.
The game will be far from optimised for the Xbone though as it won't be using that ESRAM without code changes I should imagine.
