**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

30 FPS is fine as long as its stable. Tbh I expect the launch titles to not run as well as they will in a couple of years time. The same thing happened with the launch titles of this current gen.
I think for some its the possibility of 30fps combined with 720p thats a worry. Its one of those things that were arent going to get many 1080p/solid 60fps games (definitely not a launch anyhow) so people are happy to compromise if one of those 2 things feature - when neither do it isnt hard to see why some worry...

I think part of the issue is that the majority of games (such as Watch Dogs from that link) are being developed for the current gen consoles as well. I can only guess at the problems trying to optimise a game that's being programmed for PS3, 360, PS4, XB1, and PC. I know it's probably not as graphically demanding as most titles, but something like Forza 5, running at 1080p/60FPS, shows what developers can do when looking at next gen only.

Well cross gen titles are something Im thinking of avoiding due to such compromises - watchdogs is a promising title, but might end up being something I pick up in the sales now because of it. Rather spend money on games that have been developed specifically for next gen, need to justify the purchase :p

If a game is running at 720p30 on PS3 or Xbox 360, then why isn't the frame rate automatically just higher on the next-gen with the increased power? (If they keep the graphics the same?)

wasnt there already a few videos of wd running at 1080p on next gen? it was a ps4 but surely they wouldnt have a huge res gap between both nextgen consoles?

Perhaps youll see this as bias, but Id be quite concerned if I was a XO customer right now, especially with their constant mix-messaging the latest of which, is going from when specs didnt matter outside of the number of transistors til today where we see pretty much every week another tech analysis coming out of MS; the majority of which are getting torn apart or just lead to more questions how they get to the numbers they are stating...

MS need to do a Nintendo in my books and talk about the non-tangible benefits unique to the platform. Ive got to the point that I just feel sorry for MS now. I dont trust a single word they say after the XO launch...

ive had my concerns for a while now. my biggest worry now is multiplats.... ps4 getting gimped because xbox 1 is weaker....check this tweet from shuhei yoshida(ps4) himself

And to be fair, it fades in comparison to Forza 5. For a next generation title to be running at 30fps, with what has to be said pretty generic visuals is a poor effort.

all the action i have seen from Drive club looks like my type of game and the graphics certainly do not look generic even more so compared to the same race track details in every Forza game of which i have completed most of them.I prefer these type of driving games which give instant challanges rather than a game trying to be a sim which can be completed without even any tuning or car upgrading.

While Im buying both consoles, Im not really planning on buying any games for the PS4 in the launch window, whatever we get on PS+ over the months will keep me going. PS+ is the only thing stopping me from cancelling my pre order, I may yet flog it for a profit if theres the option to do that.

Looks like BF4 could potentially be running at a higher resolution on PS4 compared to Xbox at launch.

Article already updated and confirmed as untrue (at the moment). I imagine we'll get official word on this one way or the other in the next month or so.

Highly doubt the following will be useful for people here, but I saw it and thought I might as well post it...

Microsoft has announced a new fitness app for Xbox One, imaginatively named 'Xbox Fitness'. A subscription-based service, Xbox Fitness includes workout videos from famous trainers and brands including Jillian Michaels, Beachbody 90X (Tony Horton), Insanity (Shaun T), Tracy Anderson and more.

Xbox Fitness will use Kinect to read your heart rate, gauge which muscles you're using, and track how well you're performing by measuring your balance, tempo and form. Kinect can tell how high you're jumping, how hard you're punching and give you constant feedback.

Available free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers until December 2014, Xbox Fitness will deliver personalised recommendations based on past performance and workout history, with sessions lasting between 10 and 60 minutes. You'll also be able to take on challenges including social competition that you can compare with the rest of the XBL community.

Xbox Fitness is scheduled to launch this 'holiday' for Xbox One, with a free Xbox Fitness Pass valid until December 2014 included with Xbox Live Gold.

My Mrs loves the idea of this, so at least she is now more excited about my new console than she has been previously :)

I always give the fitness stuff a go, I thought You Shape with the original Kinect was quite good and it did genuinely help me to lose weight a couple of years back.

The new Kinect should come into it's own for this stuff.

Same with my wife as well. I must admit, I've seen the Insanity stuff on the last night shopping things, and always thought it looked interesting, but not £100 interesting. The chance to try it for free is something I will definitely do. If it helps me lose some weight I'm all for it.

That would be terrible if it was the case, from what I saw at Eurogamer the PS4 certainly looked the better console. I'm looking forward to Forza 5 and if it wasn't for that I would cancel my pre-order as one of my mates did after seeing the Xbone in action at Eurogamer. I intend to use the PS4 as my main console though and would hate to think multi-plat games were being gimped on it because of MS.

The comments on that tweet about keeping customers happy is crazy, people have a choice of what console to go for and if they happen to choose the less powerful one then so be it, they can hardly complain that the other console gets better performing games if it turned out that way..

The thing is, anyone who has actually read that article knows that everything is still up in the air at the moment. Some people are moaning about PS4 titles being gimped yet not a single game has been released yet. Just kinda strikes me as silly to moan about something that hasn't happened yet, and may not actually be a real problem in the future anyway.

^^ Folks should just wait until Digital Foundry get cracking. They've got two weeks head start testing the US PS4 before it launches elsewhere. Unfortunately the Xbone is launched everywhere at the same time.

I think the developers will just get named and shamed if they go down the parity route - its just not that easy a thing to hide. Ill vote with my wallet as always. Only games Im looking to pre-order are first/second party exclusives anyway, least I know they wont be tampered...

The problem with that is that it might not be all down to the developer. They might be under time or financial constraints that force them to have the game look and run the same on both consoles, as opposed to optimising as best they could.
