**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

So for all those KI players, are you buying the fightstick for £180 or are you waiting for cheaper alternatives?

Going to try and wait for cheaper alternatives, £180 for a single platform stick is ridiculous and it's why I refuse to buy from Madcatz. I'm hoping Qanba have something in the works for the new year, I will try the game with the pad but I'm not expecting good results.

Yea' I'm thinking of going down that route. I heard Razer were making a FS that was supposed to work on anything (I could be mistaken though.) I'm still new to an arcade stick, out of my 150 hours of SF4 played I've got about 145 with a stick and really couldn't ever imagine using a controller again but I guess I'll have to learn.

Can't believe it's nearly here. Glad I'm off 4 days over release to enjoy it! :D

5 days off for me, plus it's my birthday weekend, so the wife won't say much if I want to play games most of the weekend :D

So I'm pretty sure reviews start going up around 2pm? what are people excited for?

Not overly fussed about the reviews tbh. I'll read them but I tend to buy the games I want irrespective of how they score in reviews.

Can I please ask,

If I buy an xboxone from the uk can I play it in Scandinavia without issues? For some strange reason scandinavia is postponing the xbone launch till 2014 :confused:

I'm kind of lucky in that I've been playing fighting games for about 20 years and about 17 of them were on pad before I finally made the switch, there's certain games I still use a pad for (MK9 for example) but that's more due to an awkward button layout than directional inputs. I haven't heard about that Razer stick you mentioned but I'll do some digging to see if it's anything concrete or just rumours, a dual platform stick would be brilliant in the new year.

Cool mate, if you do find out anything can you let me know please :D

Can't remember remember KI so don't know what the directional inputs are like with that :D

Didn't know it was region free so that means I can order some of those cool collectors edition only the Americans get? :D

Once the devs get to grips with the 32mb esram and DX11.2 tiling I really think the Xbox one will start to shine. Tiling allows around 6gb of textures to be stored into the 32mb esram unlike the PS4 which will use 6GB of DDR5. Couple this with the Xbox ones 8GB of DDR3 and Microsoft's hardware makes a lot of sense...

The PS4 GPU is DX11.2+, it's GPU is superior to Xbox One's in pretty much every way, that's without even counting the customisations Sony have made.

Anything Xbox One can do through DirectX can be done on PS4 at a hardware level with far fewer overheads.

You're clutching at straws.

Its a feature of DX 11.2 which is not supported on PS4. It also works best with a small fast separate cache.

PS4's 8GB of main memory is as fast as Xbox One's 32MB ESRAM.

PS4 also has 50% more texture units.

One must also remember that the ESRAM is by no means the only limitation of the Xbox One compared to the Playstation 4, if we look at the raw GPU specs:

Xbox One GPU:

1.18TFLOPS (available for games) from 12 CU. (X1 has 1.32TFLOPS but 10 percent GPU reserved for system)
768 Shaders
48 Texture Units
16 ROPS
2 ACE with 8 queues each = 16 queues total

Playstation 4 GPU:

18.4TFLOPS from a total of 18 Compute Units +56%
1152 shaders 50%
72 Texture Units + 50%
32 ROPS + 100%
8 ACE with 8 queues each = 64 queues total +400%

Destined not to get one now. I stupidly cancelled my May pre order with Game a couple of weeks ago and they won't reinstate it. My Tesco order was cancelled by them and I was an hour late with ASDA. Lol.

If anyone hears anything give me a shout and ill jump.
