**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

check your box again mate me and my lad both picked up our pre orders from game and both had the code inside the actual box with the other leaflets

tbh its that thin and scrawny looking you could almost mistake it for junk advertising lol

Time to update!

I got this on a whim. Went to Tesco in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland and was tipped off that a store 15 miles away had 12 non-preorders.

When I got there at 11pm I was 12th! In the end they had 15. All Day One Forza which came as a pleasant surprise after a few of us had been queuing thinking it was the standard console. Some guy at the front had been there since 7pm...

Looks quite nice i'm jelly. Getting my love PS next week 7 days to go :(

Got back from Game in Darlington with this little lot :)

Made a right mess in my excitement to get it all hooked up and ended up pulling wires everywhere, but it kinda fits in nice and isn't as big as I was expecting for some reason.

And here it is up and running:

Initial impressions from me:

Setup was quick & painless, a 500 odd meg patch to download, a few settings to configure and you're away.

The Kinect is better than I was expecting for voice commands. So far it's working about 95% of the time for me. I've done some testing and my natural instinct is to shout at it, but it actually seems to work just as well speaking the command at a fairly low volume. This is my first time using Kinect as I just don't see the appeal for gaming at all so skipped it on 360, but I can see me actually using the voice commands now I've given it a go. It still looks evil though :p

Originally I never saw the appeal of hooking your TV through the XboxOne, but again I've found myself surprised that it is actually quite a nice feature. Simply just having the ability to watch a bit of telly while Forza installs, or being able to have it on while browsing around the dashboard was actually quite nice.

The XboxOne itself runs very quiet as expected. I think so far my only disappointment is in the joypad. I obviously need to give it some time in actual games but my initial reaction was: Wow this thing is a bit light, the thumbsticks are small, the face button are overly 'clicky' and the shoulder buttons require my little girly fingers to stretch more than with the 360 pad and doesn't feel comfortable. For all I've read about it being very similar and nothing but a slight evolution over the 360 pad, it feels quite different to me.

Right, time to go test the games now :D Happy Xbox day to those that have/are getting one, hope you all have fun.

hey guys i like the idea of having my sky box plugged in but not all the time as dont always want the xbox on

my sky box is right next to my one so my question is

would a hdmi splitter work without loss of pic quality would any old one do or would i need a special one

Are you aware the xbox compresses any hdmi in signal ? How much it compresses it by or if its noticeable I don't know, I believe it doesn't pass surround sound through it either but will do with an update at some point, I may be wrong on the sound bit but i'm sure someone who has one will be able to tell you.

With regards to a splitter, NEET are very good and have excellent customer service who are very helpful.

Has Microsoft said any more about this? Whether it's a software issue or not?

All digital signals so not sure why that gets compressed.

Glad everyone seemed to get home safe. Love a good midnight launch, feel like a proper nerd.

For anyone still struggling to find stock. John Lewis online are showing "more than 10 in stock" I've just placed an order for store pickup tomorrow afternoon. So much for me waiting until titanfall :)

Went to GAME got my Xbox One Day One Edition Fifa 14 pre order, I decided to get a game you don't hear much about but is getting good reviews Need for Speed: Rivals :)

Was also thinking of getting Assassins Creed: Black Flag, Forza 5 or Dead Rising 3, will pick them up when they get cheaper.

Stayed in car until around 12 20 am until the queue died down, was very excited just seeing people carrying their Xbox One's to their car :D, went in and only a few people ahead of me, guy there tried to charge me £469.99 including NFS: Rivals which was £54.99 but £10 off for first game(already paid £20 pre order) so corrected him it was really £454.99, luckily before he charged my card, he said sorry for the mistake so no problem, got actually charged £449.99 as it said £15 off on receipt.

Went straight to bed when home just got up, will try tonight into the weekend and give my opinion, saw Xbox One in GAME with Kinect 2.0 and its nowhere near as big as the PS4 fanboys were saying, looks a very nice system.

Anyways enjoy your Xbox One all you Friday off'ers ;)

Also asked him had they any left and he said no, this is in Stratford Upon Avon, I was very lucky can't see any GAME locally having any, best bet would be supermarkets.

First time I've been in Stratford Upon Avon GAME(I live in a nearby town), very handy having the car park right next to it so could nose on the queue and much less risk of getting mugged ;)

They closed a few minutes before 12 45 am when everyone had gone.

Anyone know yet if the HDMI input requires the Xbox to actually be turned on, or can it work as a proper passthrough even if the console is off/in standby?

No, they aren't too big are they. Just that the PS4 is tiny. Until you see one up close, it's easier to have that perception because of the shape and lack of design.

Going to be a lot of sore eyes out there this morning.

nice one .. awaiting my timeslot info atm.
Guessing it'll be a midday or later though as I am hour away from the "local" depot.

* Note to self - install some random cheap CD to check drive before putting in FM5 disk. !
