**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Not sure if the people who are saying free FIFA has sold them the console are being honest or trolling.
I think its more the straw that broke the camels back - if youre on the fence something like this does go a long way as its an obvious tangible benefit, not just a promise...

For a lot this is as good as MS doing a price cut...

I think only the ones that can't add up are swayed as it's still cheaper to buy a PS4 with fifa than to get the Xbone with free fifa, and I'd be really surprised if it's the full game for free but even if it is it's still better value on the PS4.

The PS3 is £349, the Xbox is £429.

OK, my bad. in Euros it is 399 vs 499 as well. I guess the price difference is more than a single AA game, but I still don't think there will be much in it after retailers and supermarkets start to compete.
I doubt there will be a £5-10 difference in the price of a XB1 with free FIFA and 1 other game and a PS4 bundle with FIFA and one other game.

Why can't more people see this!

By my count the price is the same? I thought the price difference was £50? I can imagine the retail versions of FIFA being £50 on the new consoles. So by my count, same price but extra FIFA modes on XB1. To a FIFA fan surely this is a big pull?

rp2000

PS4 is £349, XB One is £429. £80 difference, so even if FIFA is full RRP of £50 (likely though you can easily get it cheaper) that's still £30 in your pocket towards another game, assuming you're not bothered about the PS Camera.

Edit - Beaten good and proper like a ginger Don Mattrick :/

The average uninformed buyer will just see on the shelf the Xbox one with Fifa for £429.99 or a PS4 with any game for £399.

Tbh I think it's a bad idea by MS to include the game. They should drop the price to at least £399 to bring it into line with the PS4. At least at £399 it's in the £300 price bracket and might tempt more buyers.

For a lot of people with Xbox preorders the price isn't a big factor in the decision, its the software. The games I want to play, excluding the multiplatform titles, are all on the Xbox. There are currently no exclusives I want on the Sony and while I still like the look of the machine, unless they come out with Uncharted 4 or something else then it's an Xbox only for now.

For me the inclusion of FIFA just means I'll have FIFA sat waiting to play when mates come round, normally I wouldn't :)

I know I messed up on the numbers (I can add, I just got the RRPs of the consoles confused!)

Still think it's a huge coup to get FIFA free on XB1 pre-orders, but obviously it is cheaper to get PS4+FIFA.

Of course it is, once you factor in Transfer of points from X360, Controller, "loyalty", etc ad nauseum.

Remains to be seen how many will be swayed by it though, I reckon a good proportion will.

You have to remember though that this is only for XO preorders and no retailer right now is going to feel like they have to compete beyond the RRP pricing before launch. I agree it will happen in time when bundles come out and other big games are launched for the Christmas period but FIFA wont be free then...

Just saw this aligning with rp2000s post above - are we really expecting such bundles pre-launch?

I think this is being overstated TBH. If they were priced closer this would be a big deal, but due to the fact that you will be able to get a PS4 + Fifa for cheaper than XB1 + Fifa it doesn't seem like an amazing deal does it?

Actually, you're getting the Xbox One, Fifa 14 and Kinect for only £30 more than a PS4 and Fifa 14. Obviously if you have no interest in Kinect it makes no difference, and if you dislike Fifa it makes no difference, but for those like me who love Fifa, and are interested in Kinect, it's now a great deal. The £50 I would've spent on Fifa can go on another game like Ryse.

I dont think Sony have to come back with anything, but i really hope they do. Not too sure what they could offer or change, i certainly dont see a price reduction. It would be extremely odd if they threw in the PS Eye after all the stuff about Kinnect has been said though.

Personally, yes. Amazon and many places did this with VITA, below RRP deals and bundled games that saved you about 20% of the cost of the game. I think same happened with WII-U as well.

If PS3 is £349, I am expecting £390 with COD/FIFA or £380 with any other launch first party title.

Expecting equivalent for XB1 as well.

Once you buy PS+ and Fifa, and Xbox Live Gold the price difference is only £30. This is why it will draw people in who mainly play FIFA as the price gap isn't as big and they get more content on the game they mainly play.

Does the Xbox come with one years free Xbox live? If not then what is the addition cost of the Xbox live service???

I agree, hence my original point that this is great for anybody who already wanted an XB1, but pointless for everybody else.

PS+ and Live GOLD are both needed to play online so that is an unfair point. regardless, I think the RRP of both services is £40 per year. Most people get them for £30-35 regularly with vouchers etc.
