**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Calm down Deidre - seriously get a grip.

Where else are we supposed to discuss what the Xbox can and CANT do?

MS have screwed up big time with this shambles which makes your unquestioning brand loyal bizarre in the extreme.

If you are happy to pay £400 for an xbox360 in a different shaped case that's fine but its equally fine for everyone else to criticise and highlight the flaws which will hopefully stop a few blind purchases.

Are you still at it?

I'd save yourself, you'll have a long wait between exclusives once you have that uber powerful console.

looking forward to the 22nd have not played my xbox for 6 months now and really missed it (gave it to my son as his broke)

i hope their is a manual for all these voice commands lol

one thing i cant help think though is little add ons throughout the year could see the following

xboxone live extra features x pounds a month
extra cloud storage introduced after a limit imposed x pounds a month
skype video chat x pounds monthly sub

i hope its not the case but i can see things like this coming :(

I didn't realise this thread was for 'fans' only - maybe you should change the title to make it a little clearer that only positive comments are allowed?

I think this guy is forgetting what MS achieved with the 360 and no doubt will still achieve with the XO.

Regardless of power...it was still the most superior console for online gaming and I have no doubt it will continue to be through the next gen.

If you want power...buy a PC, Now stop recycling old comments.

...now close that door behind you.

This is the guy that did a Windows development lecture for Oculus Rift at the recent Microsoft-sponsored OculusVR conference in Boston.

Given that the XB1 is now effectively a Unity3D devkit, and that it has been confirmed that XB1 can support (redeveloped) Win8 apps, I don't think it's such a big leap of imagination to expect that this might be something MS would support, given the solid rumour that Sony have gone down the VR route explicitly for games this generation.

Hopefully we get some kind of Kinect/VR integration this gen. Depth/Camera tracking feedback on a VR headset might be a different way to mobilise VR other than simply plugging it into a handset.

Regarding the X1 and the large number of titles running at 720p compared to the same games running at 1080p on the PS4, surely this is down to MS using GDDR3 memory for the GPU Vram, this would severely hinder performance at 1080p. The PS4 with blazing fast GDDR5 can apparently do 1080p no problem.

Here is an official video showing of the new XBOne Dash

It looks like the uploading of gameclips is limited to uploading to Live

Haha! It's quite sad that whilst trolling you're making yourself look like a total moron.

So if the Xbox One is a 360 in a different case, surely the PS4 is a PS3 in a different case? I mean, having entirely different and incredibly more powerful architecture than their predecessors means nothing, right?

:D

The Xbox has DDR3 and not GDDR3 which is a huge difference as GDDR3 is based on DDR2. GDDR5 is based on DDR3 but is much better suited to Graphics as it has larger memory bandwidth but worse latency compared to DDR3. But yeah the RAM is a major difference.

The one thing I thought was that GDDR5 memory is very expensive compared to DDR3 so how did Sony make the PlayStation 4 so cheap, will each console be sold at a big loss?

I would like to know why a type of graphics ram can make such a difference in performance?

From what I heard. A loss but not as big as last gen

GDDR5 5500 (1375MHZ actual) memory, in the case of the Playstation 4 (which uses a 256-bit bus) giving a total of 176GB/s of peak bandwidth. As a small note, according to interviews with developers, the actual real number when factoring in overheads and the like is more along the lines of 172GB/s. It’s still far higher than the Xbox One’s DDR3 2133 68GB/s.

68GB/s will be a big bottleneck to the GPU at 1080p, this why the X1 struggles with 1080p and the PS4 seemingly not.

Technically they are just about identical bar the memory they use, MS went cheap and it's showing this in the first games out on the console running at only 720p.

It's not just the manufacturing costs that are low this generation, the R&D costs are far smaller than the last generation as both consoles use mid-range off the shelf laptop components.

Only just realised AC4 is released on the 22nd for all platforms in Europe, including PS4. Seems strange to release a game for a platform that is not out yet. At least the XB1 can play it on day one.

Just been watching vids of the gameplay and thinking I will pick this up on the 22nd, I love the new pirate setting compared to the old castles and forts setting in previous games.

I've had my PS4 copy of ghosts since last week.

Just reading that further it says:

Guessing my order will get cancelled at some point then :/

I ordered from the same link as it was posted above. Rang Tesco today and the chap was polite enough but no-one knows. Apparently it was set up for those people who had paid the £20 deposit to buy but they weren't aware it had gone up for general sale now. He looked at my order though and said from their end it had all gone through ok.

Going on that if you go on the Forza page you can't order it I assume either not all people who have chosen Fifa have paid up yet so still showing as available or they really have day 1 consoles with fifa available.
