**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

What century is this?

:p

Mine runs at 110KB/s, so even when you have it, doesn't mean it's good!

I was in CEX this morning, and the girl behind the till was asking why I wasn't getting the PS4 over the XO:

"I want the exclusives on there, as there isn't any I want on PS4."
"Oh, right."

But I suppose its similar to when I was in the Three store trying the One and getting "The S4 is out soon" rubbish blasted into my ear.

edit: What exactly will Sony achieve by posting that?

As does PS4, although perhaps to a different degree, so it's a moot point if he wants a next gen console...
Wrong, you cant even boot into an XB1 without the internet connection, PS4 will allow you to play games etc, but will have some missing functionality.

Once again somebody has brought up the PS4 in this thread in an attempt to start an argument, I hope Davey can see exactly why this thread keeps going to crap.

Which is a bad decision on part of MS to do so.

But yeah, no wonder this thread ends up with pages of pure ****. :(

Because you keep posting in it? The point I made is both console require major day one updates to enable features, it's quite common for technology that has been in production for several months building up stock for release day. Of course the OS continues to be developed in the mean time.

I would imagine both Sony and MS will have options to order DVD with the firmware update for people with no viable internet connection the same as they did with PS3 and 360.

Much more likely that the posters friend would take their XO or PS4 to a friends house with internet to grab the update before taking it home again.

So I posted in this thread about XB1 and then you decided to bring up PS4 in here, with an incorrect statement becsuse you knew I would correct you.

Its very clear you are trying to purposely cause an argument in here.

I'm not going to carry on this discussion in here as it's clear people are getting annoyed, I'll continue to post about XB1 in here every now and then snd hopefully in the future you won't turn it into another PS4 vs XB1 argument.

I suppose it's just one of the problems you have when you start actually manufacturing a couple of months before release so you have stock.

It's a bit pants for day one buyers of either console. XO seems to be limited to very basic functionality without the update (i.e not even play games) and whilst PS4 will play games it can't play Blu-ray, do multiplayer and a bunch of other stuff.

I suppose it's a sign of the times that companies assume day one enthusiasts will have internet connections although you'd have thought they would be offering an obvious way to order a DVD or USB stick to do the updates the old fashioned way if needed.

Something I suspect we'll get used to, we see it with everything from Chrome to Windows now, there is assumption that all software is becoming open to incremental updates via the internet constantly rather than the old style of finish it, ship it and maybe get one big update a year. Good for users most of the time as we get a constant flow of new features and optimisations, sucks if you have limited or no connection though.

I thought I was on your ignore list so by definition I expected no response from you? ! Nice attempt at trying to play the innocent wounded party though. What is it with you that you can't post in the XO thread without trying to start a flame fest? Seriously, get a grip!

The power of the PS4 would mean the argument.. ;)

The constant bickering over total **** does grate you down. Hence why I ignored all of the rumours about the unstable UI a few weeks back. It's mostly rubbish that gets posted on the web from some 'reliable' resource. Since I started using Win 8.1, i've had zero problems with anything. How did these idiots expect the Xbox with its derived OS to be total crap and unstable?!

Anyhow, lets attempt to get back onto topic. Again. :)

@Macro: They assume that not only have you got internet, but also got a fast connection. I hope Three don't mind when I try and tether the 35(ish)GB for FIFA :p

its simple really talk about the xbox in the xbox thread and talk about the ps4 in the ps4 thread simples :p and keep it that way. if there was a thread where all next gen talk could be,it would be great all the kids could go in there and squabble and leave the adults to talk about the machines they want in the correct thread without it kicking off.

I dread to think what the state of XB Live and PSN will be like on release day as everyone hits the servers for updates *shudder*. I think PS4 update is due to be around 300mb. I've not seen a size for XO but read they expected it would take 15-20mins for the average (whatever that is) internet connection. :(

Probably best to double check but Penello said you cant do anything without the the update and the leaked console information seems to back that up (basically takes you to a screen to connect to internet when you boot up IIRC)
I have 3mb internet. Great.
Youll be fine, I think MS servers are gonna be heavily loaded so lots may not max their connection for the first couple of days. TBH if you were worried Id try and get my XO at midnight so that youve got about 7hrs before the US do, once they do its gonna get hammered!

ps3ud0

I didn't start the flame fest, you did and it was very obvious this time. Anyway enough of this back and forth filling up the thread

I believe the XB1 update was confirmed as 500MB by that guy in the US that got it early

Think I will come home from work install the xbox, run the update then just play something SP on my PC for the night.

This is will be my plan. Once a week has passed and the download is done..., install Forza and set FIFA on download as I play FM5. BF4 later. ;)
