Xbox One V PS4

XBL as a service is way ahead of PSN. Far more stable and doesn't go down for maintenance anywhere near as much.

The maintenance thing is a pain really. Especially as it always affects is brits at the wrong time. Admittedly PSN was a bit rubbish last year and had far too many down times but apart from that I've had zero issues with it.
XBL has been a bit flaky as well. MS are a lot better at getting up and running again and at least let people know what's going on.
I'd say PSN for PS4 is a LOT better than it was for the PS3. Whereas XBL for the X1 is just as good as it was for the 360 :D

[fanboyism] The Xbone is quite heavy so it makes an excellent paper weight. :D Can't think of any other uses. [/fanboyism]

You are correct but like biron stated it does seem to be a bit of a non or less of an issue now.

I would say since around mid to late 2014 the service has improved considerably. I've not been effected by any down time this year but admittedly I don't game every day online.

So for me the service is perfect but the UI can still have a few bugs such as news feed not loading automatically, I always have to manually load it.

*just noticed xbox live has had issues this morning, so it really does swing in roundabouts.

Both are good consoles but as others have recommended, I would get whatever the majority of your friends have so you can hook up in online play.

If we are talking on paper performance the PS4 is technically better although I am not entirely convinced the difference is so obvious in games, or at least obvious enough to detract from the playing experience.

The only downside with the PS4 are the pads. They are nowhere near as good as the XB1 in my opinion.

But something many don't consider are the sales. I believe PS4 are out selling the XB1 at 2:1. So the developers may start to offer more exclusives to Sony because it has a bigger share of the market according to the sales figures. It also means the 2nd hand market should be healthier as well as peripherals, spares etc etc. just something to think about for the future as these consoles should have another 6-7yrs shelf life yet.

Both of them are cracking consoles to be honest, with a decent selection of games and exclusives. Get whichever you're most comfortable with and enjoy!

Personally I prefer the Xbox as I like how I can run my TV through it, use it for all my blu-rays, netflix and downloaded stuff and of course games! (I know you can do most of these on the playstation too) I like the whole one device for everything kinda approach they took with it and I can't really tell much difference between the games that are available on both.

Like to record video clips and share?
PS4 can share direct to Facebook, Youtube, USB drive.

XB1 you have to upload them to OneDrive and then manage them seperately.

Clip length? PS4 persistently records 15 mins. XB1 limited to 5.

You can do longer on the Xbox but I believe you have to start the game dvr app up first to set it all up or you can probably snap it and do it that way. I only ever use the "xbox record that" feature so haven't delved into it that much. Not sure on the YouTube sharing, I think you can upload your clips and recordings from the YouTube app bypassing the need to use OneDrive first.

"Xbox, Record That!" only saves the last 30 seconds. You can capture the previous 30 seconds, 45 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes or 5 minutes manually in the Game DVR app. :p

If you play online I would go with the console that your friends have!
Not tried the One and 4 but I have had a ps3 and a 360. Found the 360 better. Good luck with your choice!

Cheers guys appreciate the input

As I said before I think I'd mainly be buying the console for destiny as I really want to play it. It seems I can get a cheaper deal on the Xbox One - Need to decide what to do.....

You can get up to 5 minutes of what you're about to do as well if you start a recording manually. I thought you could get up to 15 but the help website only says 5.
