Xbox or PS3?

The only thing worth paying for on XBL is the party chat, and even that isn't worth £30+ a year.

exactly, the best value pay service is now PSN+

Its how online should be, you shouldnt pay for online gaming, that should be free. Paid online should be bonuses, betas, games!

Sorry but even though Xbox live was definitely the better service earlier on, With the exception of Party chat, Its no longer the case.

Hmm Debatable

The whole thing is debatable. Neither one is categorically better than the other, it all depends on how you'll use the console (online or offline, just games or other entertainment too) and what games you like.

I have both and I enjoy the games (and additional features) on both. If I was told I could only keep one, I'd keep the PS3. At least it's not trying to sell me things as soon as I turn it on.

Agree altho not to happy about Singstar on there without being able to delete

Live is still way better than PSN, try set a game up in GT5 and tell me PSN is good :D txt your friend to tell them to join, really modern.

I went with the 360 because the pad is far more comfortable in my hands and I prefer the exclusives such as halo.
But it comes down to preference, neither is hugely better than the other, the pros and cons balance out imo

Yea, I started with a 360, then it burned out on me and I got a PS3.
The free games on PS+ at the moment are amazing for the 39.99 price tag but with out it you can still have plenty of online fun.

But again I was missing out on some exclusives that were only available on the 360.

Basically Im a gaming whore :p, its my passion and hobby, so I HAD to get both.
But then thats just me. :D

Just think about what games you like best and see what each has to offer and make your decission based on that.

Which ever you get will be fun, I think you get more for your money with ps3 but I've just picked up a 360 and am really enjoying some of the exclusives. I've had ps3 since the start. If I had neither and had to chose only one I guess it would be the ps3. Won't go wrong with either imo though.

Without wanting to start a fanboy war...

I'm in the market for a console, not having had one for many years, and I'm just after opinions on whether to get the Xbox 360 or PS3. Having had a look at the games, most seem to be available for both platforms, with the exception of Halo and probably a few others, but I have no idea about the other stuff like size and quality of the online community.

I imagine many of you have both consoles so I bow to your collective wisdom!

E: ooh! 11111th post :p
multi-plats are about the same on each console and they both have a good selection of exclusives. so, for a what console offers the best exclusives.... throw a coin in the air to decide what one to get.

a PS3 with PSN+ subscription is a good option as you get retail game downloads each month as part of your sub. for me, not so good a choice as i have yet to see a game i want or have not already own/owned.

with the 360 you will have to pay around £30 a year (for each user name that goes online) to get the most benefits of the 360 system.

unlike PS3, every game on Arcade and XBLIG has a try before you buy option that will pay dividends in that you will only buy the games you like.

as regards online, they are about the same if your just going to load a game and play, but you will soon experiance the difference between the 2 systems when you decide to use voice coms as the 360 takes it to another level with its xgame/xmedia chat.

Gran Turismo 5 isn't a great example, if you compare a more popular online game like Call of Duty for instance, you'll find that inviting friends to a lobby is just as quick and simple as it is on the 360. They're both great consoles, to only own one of them would be to miss out on half of the goodness of this generation.

I don't think any of my mates have a console to be honest! I'm 36 myself so families and other stuff tend to take over at this age... Besides, I imagine you lot would be more than happy to be my online gaming buddies?! ;)

Go for xbox then. Yes you have to pay for online play, but its around £30 a year so you won't exactly need a loan to get it.

It also works. Remember that time Live was down for aaaages, so long it was on the news for weeks? No? Exactly. You get what you pay for.
