The CBR used for recordings can be extremely inefficient, I have 8 min clips at a gb, its adding up on my hdd :p, so will be reencoding everything as CRF at some point. I am guessing they prefer CBR because its predictable resource usage.

Is the expansion card worth it currently? Do you think there will be any sales/discounts or any higher storage brought out?

Down to 200gig on my Series X and wondering what to do.

I have a SS and obviously I’m very restricted for space, but I use a 2TB HDD in a USB 3.1 caddy for storing older titles, and a 1TB SSD for storing newer stuff and for moving data between the SS and SSD. It works well, it only take a few minutes to move a game between the internal storage SS and the SSD. Works out much cheaper than the expansion card (although I know that has its obvious benefits!).

It’s worth it if you are happy paying the premium for it. I have been using one since launch and it’s a great drive.

Well like above I need extra space, i'm not sure if buying an SSD and sticking in an enclosure is worth the little less you pay for it and will look unsightly.

So I guess in that regard it's my only option, have got the money for it just trying to justify it like everything else.

Don’t forget that the SSD only supports old Xbox One games, and any future Series only games won’t run from it.

I have a Series X with the 1TB expansion card and a 1TB external SSD, and a Series S with the 1TB expansion card and a 3TB external HDD.

I don’t regret getting the expansion cards, and I think the SSD was a waste of money.

I just want to say what a freakin' pleasure it is to be back on Xbox. I'm only able to play "S" versions of games so there is a slight FOMO effect but I wanted to kind of test the waters a bit and see how I'd get on without playing on PC. Needless to say, it's definitely worth it over the hassle and XSX is now top of my purchase list - although I do kind of want to wait until October-November to see if MS bring out a 20th anniversary edition.

The 15 second start up time is amazing and then a few seconds more to quick resume last night's games even more so. After the initial gripes of playing at 30fps again, I soon adjusted and even though I still have that niggle in the back of my mind "I bet this would look great at 4K, I bet this would play better at 60fps" I now know that my PC doesn't do much better because of the overheads of Windows and DirectX. It's not worth it. And I'm able to try so many games that I wouldn't touch on PC - Game Pass on PC is crap because it's missing half the stuff and then you have to deal with the atrocious UWP file protection and multiplayer games I wouldn't play on PC because of all the cheating.

So I look forward to seeing what Xbox and PS5 can do over the next seven years. I said before it feels like the halcyon days of the 360 when gaming was the best it's been (for me at least).

Same I don’t use my usb ssd anymore just use the expansion card and an 8tb Xbox drive to store things.

I'm the same got a Series X over upgrading my PC as i'm just fed up of spending so much money, tinkering with stuff and just want to switch on and play. It's my first Xbox since the 360 era and boy have I missed a lot.

I'm currently going through loads of gamepass games, have yet to buy a game but having the most amount of fun i've had in recent years gaming.

Will be getting a PS5 later on down the line as i've had every console and want the exclusives but won't be for a while got so much to play already.

Great I'm glad that it seems worth it, will probably pick one up this week.

Just what I wanted to hear! Gonna pop an order in for one today.

With you on that. I did upgrade my cpu this year, but mainly for non-gaming. Now am hoping system lasts for a good 4 more years. Ryzen 3900xt with 64gb. Had most of the system 3 years already.

I'm just not at all tempted by gaming on pc any more.

New red/white controller incoming, looks lovely. Really love the Series controller with that texturing on the back. Feels really nice to hold.
