xbox vs ps pad

Came from a Ps2 to the Xbox 360 and thought that the Ps pad was better, after about a year on the Xbox I went back to the old Ps2 and found the controller to be awful, I have a Ps3 now but I still cant get used to it.

I can swap between the 2 without much fuss.

PS3 pad definitely works better in fighting games and hack and slash games I find.

Where as the 360 pad is a god send for FPS.

I have no actual problems using either

Same here.

I personally don't think either one is better than the other. They are both great for different genres of games and I have no problem using the two depending on the situation.

Racing and FPS are definitely great for the 360 pad, and 2D games, Fighting, and more platform oriented action games, JRPGs, I find better on the PS3 pad.

PS3 pad looks nicer but isn't comfy after a while. I feel like the 360 was made for hands where as my hands are having to bend to fit the PS3 pad.

For people that have a PS3 but prefer the 360 pad you should try the Power A controller http://gizmodo.com/5563483/power-a-makes-a-wireless-xbox-360-controller-for-the-ps3

I have one and they're really very good. £25 from argos.

looked into getting one of these a while ago, but was put off by reviews complaining about the dead zones on the analogue sticks and poor wireless range.

have these issues been sorted out on this pad then?, would be quite interested if they had..

I've got one of those, I used it exclusively for GT5 but found it awful for anything else.

The analogue sticks aren't accurate enough for FPS games, and the top L1 + R1 buttons are ridiculously spongy, you have to wait for them to pop back out after pressing them :o

360 pad is miles better. I've even bought a 360 shaped pad for my PS3 as I much prefer the stick layout.
The d-pad is crap on the normal 360 pad but the other day I bought one of those 360 pads with the twisty d-pad that goes from this:

to this:

and it's miles better.

Is that the new pad design that comes with the 360s? If so I might invest in one of those.

Don't I had one and got rid of it straight away the D pad is in fact less responsive than the default D pad as hard as that is to believe.
No idea how that guy thinks it's better I presume he doesn't use it for fighting games then.

It's just a special edition. Was on offer in tesco for £32 and because one of the sticks on my original pad is busted I bought one.
And,no,I don't use them for fighting games. But for weapon swapping in Gears and equipment selecting in COD it's fine for me :p

If your thumbs slip off the 360 pad, you must leak oil or something :p

I can understand using them for a PS3 as the sticks are convex, but the 360s are concave so it shouldn't happen.

It must be bad if it's worse than the previous d-pad, just feels like there's a piece of sponge underneath it.

I tried it with mvc3 I was holding down back on the silver rotating d pad and my character was stood upright ! again and again this d pad proved to be worse.
