I've never owned a console but soon I think i'll get one.

Prices of 32 inch LCD's (£400) and Xbox360's (£300 incl games) are coming down. That's starting to look very reasonable compared to a year ago when LCD's were much more expensive and the 360 didn't have too many good games.

The only thing thats stopping me is keyboard and muse issues. Which-ever company brings out a FPS with keyboard and mouse support is going to get my money.

How long do you think it will be? 6 months?

Why not buy an xbox360 and run it on your PC monitor for now...

If you enjoy it..Then splash out the extra for the 32" HD TV

(I myself didn't buy my HD TV just for xbox360 gaming..So i don't count the price of my HD TV against it..)

It most likely be at lest 6 months before you even be able to get your hands on a UK PS3....That if sony don't get there act together very soon..

I only play CSS. So either MS or Sony needs to develop a FPS game with kB + M support, if they want me as a customer.

I hope some developers are are working on it right now. How difficult can it be?

If you only play CSS why don't you stick to your PC (meant in a nice way of course).

MS have said they would never allow mouse and keyboard use in games. There is someone working on a device that translates keyboard and mouse movements into joypad movements but it's not out yet.

Sony will probably allow KB+M if the developers want it.

I agree if you want or need a KB and M don't bother with console gaming. Console FPS is designed around a joypad chances are you wouldn't like the slower turn of a console fps if you need a KBM.

If you only play FPS games then there isn't a whole lot of point in buying either. The reason I and most people enjoy consoles is because of the ease of use of the control pad and the wide variety of different games that you just don't get on the pc.

360 is very good, but im taking mine back because it keeps breaking, even though ive been making sure its not overheating, been carefull with it and everything but i got my 1st one in september, already on my 3rd.

shame because there is a great line up of games but screw consoles im sticking with PC.

Your're all right, i'll probably just keep playing CSS on my PC.

I can't help dreaming though. Why not bring out a game e.g. CSS-360/PS3, with its own mouse and mini-KB included with the game? The idea being that you can't use the controller, so no auto-aim.

Surely there is the potential to move a load of PC gamers over to consoles.

Surely this is related to the fact that the movements are translated into keypad movements? This problem could be overcome with proper KB + M support.

That isn't the point of consoles really. The xbox 360 pad is great for FPS games once you've played for a while with it and you don't need to sit at a desk to use it properly.

Decent support still wont make the player rotate quicker surely? I was shocked how much slower even on the most sensitive settings you can rotate. All they will do is make the mouse as sensitive as the fastest joypad setting.

The games are designed around a joypad, even with a KBM I dont think it will convert all that well.

You are right, it would need both proper KBM support and for games to be specifically written with it in mind. I don't see it happening.

its not the point of console gaming.

i'd hate having to use a kb and mouse for halo for example. i've always felt kb and mouse deters immersion, and half life 2 did nothing to change that perception, theres this layer that you just dont get on consoles.

stick with your pc if you want kb and mouse, though there is an adapter that allows it on 360.

If you want the ultimate game experience get a 360

I feel the opposite. I never had to 'learn' to use KBM on a PC because it is totally intuitive and natural, and certainly doesn't get in the way of the gameplay. You move, aim and shoot without thinking - and your character on the screen does precisely what you intend it to do.

With a console FPS or third-person game on the other hand, the control system is awkward, clumsy and while you can get used to it and improve, it is and will never be as good as KBM.

And if you want the best FPS experience stick with a PC.

I really don't see any excuse for limiting the user, options are always good and a keyboard and mouse would enhance fps games so much.

Something else id like to know is why the hardware to make a console is so cheap in comparison to the equivalent spec pc? Sure i know it will cost a bit more for its customization of components but it still must mean we're being ripped off by mainly the graphics and cpu makers etc?

The console cost is subsidised by revenue from game sales. Much like mobile phones are subsidised by the cost of the calls.

Yeah i know that too but they're making a profit on the hardware now, games should come down in price really, £40 on average is excessive anyway.

I've read enough reviews from America saying how the PS3 spanks the 360 in everything bar the cost of the console. Oh, and the 360 is easier to code for.

Everything I've read says there's little difference power-wise and the ps3 has a weaker online system
