If you are getting 360 then get a elite for the bigger hdd and hdmi , i dont think you can go wrong for the price

A poster in this thread earlier on mentioned the Premium may have the HDMI connection. Is this correct or is it only the elite.

Does the HDMI make a lot of difference over component?

You'll get a Component cable in the box.

I prefer the more arcadey PGR4 to Forza 2 but if you're a bit of a gear head it's a good choice.

For fps: COD4 is a must, but I'd also highly rank Bioshock, The Darkness, Halo 3 (brilliant 4 player coop), GRAW, COD2, Condemned and Gears of War.

Mass Effect is probably my favourite game on the system (this or Dead Rising) and even though you say you don't like rpgs I'd really recommend giving it a go.

Also don't miss out on some other cracking games from different genres: Dead Rising, Crackdown, Kameo, Bully, Test Drive Unlimited, Saints Row, Gun and if you discover you do actually like rpgs, Oblivion and Lost Odyssey.

The premium does now come with HDMI, it will say it on the box. Check before you pay or leave the shop. I bought my son one back in september, so all the old stocks must have gone by now.

All 360s now come with hdmi but only the elite comes with a hdmi cable and the audio optical dongle.

I have an Elite and I don't think there's that much, if anything in it.

Ah right, the Optical audio cable could come in handy for connecting to my home theatre

so even just for that and the bigger HDD i may go with the elite, plus it looks so good in black!

I have to have a wee read with regards to condemned 2, but never knew there were som many excellent games.

All 360s have an optical audio out though it's built into the component/vga cable.
To comply with hdmi rules the 360 has to have a generic hdmi output so all/any cables fit. So if you want to connect with hdmi and want optical audio out you have to also fit the component/vga adaptor and use it's optical out connector.

It gets more complicated though. MS have put the standard video out port so close to the hdmi port that they both won't fit unless you buy an MS optical out connector (which comes with the Elite). You can work around this by breaking open the component casing (so it fits).

Damn, I've made that sound complicated.

You are just guaranteed to get hdmi with the elite and for the little extra money you pay the larger hdd is a bonus + i think the elite looks nicer but you are the one buying it so its up to you .

Yeah ive had a look at the Elite and will probably end up splashing out on it

I am not a expert but like people have said earlier try to get that 175w one , i believe most elite's are but not all of them if you go for the elite then game-on

Just use your bundled component cable to get optical outputs when using HDMI.

If you get an Elite it comes with a seperate optical dongle connector to save you having to muck about with the component cable.

and you'll love it (I did back in 2005 when I ditched PC gaming and bought one and I'm still loving it now).

You just have to think of a gamertag name now (and make sure it's not taken).

Also make sure you look in the 2nd hand section when you pick it up and get Dead Rising and/or Crackdown, that's an order!

Just about everyone here has advised you to get a 360... Personally I am much, much happier with my PS3 than the 360... Can't be bothered to go into all the reasons.

Single eh? Well then it's gotta be a PS3... when you pull your next girlfriend and bring her back, you can woo off her clothing with it's asthetics and by throwing on a blu-ray disc and amazing her with the pic quality.
