Should the new forum feature a "like" system? (note: this is like only, not dislike)

How is thanks any different to like? Its the same button with different text on it! It would still be open to the same abuse, I don't see how it would be any better

I think these additions/changes should be considered must-haves:

- Profile linking to mumsnet accounts
- Hotdog stand the new default theme
- GD the default landing page
- Animated GIFs in signatures and avatars (no size limit of course)
- Likes, thanks, up and downvote options for all posts
- Ability to change username (with no limits)
- All embedded YouTube links auto play by default
- 100000000000000000 more emoticons
- Live chat window at the bottom of all forums, with audio chat enabled by default
- Ability to sticky your own threads

:D

Strong views, Man of Honour 2017 contender right there.

No it isn't. Trust is for MM. I want to be able to message people to tell them what ***** they are without getting banned :p

....there are no words.

Voted no but if there was a dislike button I would have voted yes and disliked every single one of EVH posts and every other Gestapo mods.

"gestapo mods" you mean people who see through your nonsense?

Surprised you manage to hang around as long as you have since you hate everything on this forum.

there's a huge difference, especially with silly arguments. you'll get people posting stuff like "killary belongs in jail" after trump tells them to, then you'll get 50 likes for useless thoughtless comments like that as they sound great. You'll then get decent replies that get zero likes because sensible people don't see the need to like every post/reply. now it looks like the "killary must die" comment is correct as it has 50 likes, and it'll encourage people to do that more often.

a thanks button at most will do, but i think the amount thanks a comment gets should only be shown to the person who wrote the post.

and if you replace that with a thanks button it'll do the same thing.

there is a difference. people use "like" buttons as a way to say thanks, and to say i agree i like this comment.

a thanks button doesn't make sense as a way to say i agree. "killary should go to jail". no one has ever quoted and replied saying thanks. doesn't work.

like i said, if possible it should be hidden any way so i don't know how many thanks you got for a comment.

I'd be pressing thanks for making me smile :)
