Should the new forum feature a "like" system? (note: this is like only, not dislike)

See I actually quite like the blue theme as it's so much easier on the eye (for me) - especially later at night although yeah it does stand out among other general web browsing!

Looking forward to the new setup :D

Was wondering what happened with this. I thought it would be a new years thing, but better late than never I suppose. Looking forward to the change, all the extra features will come in handy :)

I like how we are talking about insignificant changes that can be added at any time, instead of actually launching the project.

Scope creep?

Appaeently Xenforo's like system is so baked in that you don't get the option later, you either start with it or without it and that's it. Seriously, as a Dev myself it makes me question the integrity of the entire thing.

Should have a pancake system. A like system is gayer than Elton John's cotton chintz duvet set.

Seriously?! That's insane. Agreed, does make me wonder about the whole thing. To not allow a simple enable disable on a feature like that is really strange

Further reading and it's complete lols. The only way to remove likes is to ctrl+f through all the templates for "like" and/or "likes" - of which there are 50+ files (from a default install) that need to be edited. Someone has submitted an "add-on resource" (ffs, why do people name things so craply all the time?) that removes likes (submitted in 2013) but that was incomplete at the time he posted it, so no idea how bad it is now.

Even if the like/dislike buttons are present and get abused, are people really that concerned about what other random people on the internet think? I know I'm not.

Likes serve no purpose. It's a circle-jerk feature and a spawn of Social Media to propagate posts/advertisements/anything else as far and wide as possible.

It has no place, purpose or need on a Forum.

just ignore it then.

seriously if you dont care about it is a tiny 1-3 digit number that takes up all of a few square mm of space

I'd rather not have this feature.

I prefer posts to be judged by their own inherent merit, and not by how many people clicked a button on it.
