Should the new forum feature a "like" system? (note: this is like only, not dislike)

I'd rather not have this feature.

I prefer posts to be judged by their own inherent merit, and not by how many people clicked a button on it.

wait so you're saying the number of likes prevents you from judging a post by its own merit?

are you really that impressionable?

I like this. Where's the like button? :)

Seriously though, I agree with this position.

What's the point of quantifying how popular a person is? That's what "like" buttons are for. They detract from content by emphasising the popularity of the writer rather than the writing.

I don't think this forum has been so divided since the brexit vote .

If it's as hard to remove as has been described by kindai and Dj Jester I doubt its going to get removed by tonight. I imagine we are in a like it or lump it situation.

the irony of your avatar....

Why,If it aint broke..dont fix it. :D

Can we finally choose our own Avatars on the new forums or are we going to be stuck with the same boring ones we have now and everyone's the same?

I have an avatar? I suppose I must have. I've never looked at them. What's ironic about it?

EDIT: Ah, I see it now. I've been given an appointed avatar. Presumably it happened some time in 2016, since that's the year on it, but I knew nothing about it.

First load is a bitch though.

Pure interest is the migration to xenforo the thing that's causing the database errors early morning(~2am)?

Appaeently Xenforo's like system is so baked in that you don't get the option later, you either start with it or without it and that's it. Seriously, as a Dev myself it makes me question the integrity of the entire thing.

It does seem a very very strange decision considering all it needs is a flick switch to either display it or not even if it's all still actually running in the background.

*****, thought a xenforo was some new fangled gadget so have only just seen clicked on this thread. Would have been a shock signing in tomorrow if I hadn't..

Probably already been answered but will there be a way to switch to a dark theme?

I genuinely feel honoured. The description of why I was given the award is something I strive for and am proud of succeeding in doing it enough for other people to notice.

Am I the only person here who likes the shades of blue default for these forums?
