Now I'm really confused. When did AMD X2s come into this? There are no 4-core X2s. C2D is faster than what? The Xeons? It's the same technology with a different name.

Hi there

Yes the two OcUK are selling will fit into Intel 975X mainboards and work no issues. As long as the motherboard support Kentsfield processors then these XEON's will work fine. We have stock arriving tomorrow with more available. :)

I am really trying to visualise what sort of performance increase I can get with a 3210 so I can buy one.

Hmmmm so any board that supports a Kentsfield huh - does that include the ds3p ?

I have dual Prestonias; 1.6 GHz LV models running at 3 GHz. Essentially they're low-voltage Northwoods that love to overclock.

EDIT: There are a few more of us with almost identical systems. Amp34 has the same setup as me with a newer version of the mobo. PinkFloyd has the same setup. There are a few more of these systems lurking around in the DC forum but in my old age I can't remember who's got them.
