*** XFX 58** Delivery In Stock Now ***

It makes completely no sense though Fatboy.

Originally we were told that the 5800 series was going up in price due to supply problems at TSMC.

Once the supply problems went away and cards starting becoming available in better quantitys the prices would start to come down..

I always thought the 5850 was to cheap on first release, I mean even when it's just clocked to 5870 speeds, it performs on par, the shader loss make little or no difference, so IMO this price is fair.

Have to wait until they become in very short supply again im afraid (if they ever) :D

How does that work? Short supply drives up the price.

If you flood the market with 5870s then you drive the price down as supply out strips the demand for them.

If you trickle 5870s into the market then the demand for the 5870s out strips the supply of them. This drives up the asking price.

Most price rises now are VAT increases.

Fatboy said that the price rise is because of thier supplyier bumping the price up $20 on some 5*** cards.

Thats right, but as said by Fatboy, prices are getting hiked again, but they shouldn't be, as the yields are now picking up, as are the supplies. :)

They were only at £200 and £300 when they were in a severe shortage, since they picked up, they've been doing nothing but rise, so naturally, they are getting hiked even further, as now supplies are getting even better, only another severe shortage will get the prices back down again. :D

Bah I wish I bought them at the bargain launch day prices (now there is something I thought I would never say).

I wonder if AMD know something we dont so far as fermi is concerned? May also have something to do with the fact some AAA title dx11 games are coming out this quatre so demand I expect would only increase.

I am really starting to regret waiting on fermi.

Trouble with Fermi is though, they more than likely gona be around £550, and then theres the extra £150 on top of that for the cases they need :D

I`m amazed the prices have increased(way above VAT increases)... considering there are 100`s available right now - not known anything like it really when stock is so plentiful....it`s poor all round:mad: There are a lot of upset people....shambles really:rolleyes:

Even more amazing was how lucky I was to get a 5870 Vapor-x @ £315 between xmas & new year! :p

Question is.....are the patient people going to stay patient or are you gonna dive in now?;)

I'm going to have to dive in :(, with the sapphire one though :).

A 5850 is only worth £180. The real reason we are seeing these extortionate prices is due to inflation. Unfortunately Mr Brown doesn't understand economics and can't see that the UK can not cope with a weak currency.

Best off stocking up with food with that £230 - £300 methinks.

The word 'Mug' that somehow appeared upon my forehead immediately after I paid £340 for my 5870 just prior to xmas has suddenly begun fading - was :o now
