XFX 7870 DD edition vs Core edition?

Just a question... but why is the manufacturer warranty so important ?. Is it not your local retailer/shop where you purchased your hardware from that handles the warranty services ?

I've had over 100 graphics cards, but I never made any RMAs directly to the manufacturer, but only to the store/shop where the card was purchased and then they take care of the following RMA procedure.
At least in Denmark the store/retailer is giving the consumer 2 years full warranty for the product purchased, regardless of how long the manufacturer warranty is.

Due to the warranty problems in the UK with XFX I would avoid them at all costs and stick with a vendor with better UK warranty such as MSI and EVGA.

I own 4 XFX 7970 cards.

Because you can deal with either the manufacturer or retail outlet, but the retail outlet then hands it on to the manufacturer. So if the manufacturer takes 21 days to replace your card. It'll be the same regardless of whether or not you used the retailer, they don't have to immediatley replace your card.

Okay... then perhaps the advantage here is that in Denmark that within the first 6 months of the warranty period the retail outlet will replace the card with no questions asked (when the card isn't physically abused), almost immediately.
I never tried sending any hardware directly to the manufacturer.

Yea the XFX looked great in some reviews I read but since so many have had issues with XFX themselves I think il go for the MSI 7870.

Thanks for all your replies.
