xfx warantee

This is a disgrace!

Now you know only shop OCUK ;)

Id still ring around like everyone says, 10 month old??

I had a 9800gx2 go bump after 1.5 years and PNY replaced it with a 285, 10 month!!!! I thought after 1 year it goes from retailers fault to manufacturer?

When i contacted PNY they only asked for SN and stuff then emailed me an RMA sticker?

XFX is a no go!

According to SOGA, the retailer always has to deal with it.

Well this is thumbs up for PNY!

I can even remember the guys name, Eric! lol, he was really nice emailing me and stuff and made it very easy for me to RMA, cost like £15 to send to France and was replaced within a week.

[SHAUN_T 11/9/2012 9:35:24 AM] Hi Kiel, thanks for your message. We have been made aware of the thread you have created on Overclockers. This graphics card was shipped out to our customer in June 2010, hence the card is 2 and a half years old and has no warranty on it at all and is the reason we couldnt help. There is no way this card has sat on a shelf from June 2010 until your claimed purchase date in November 2011. We have noticed on the forum thread and also in your customer information you have failed to say which retailer you purchased this item from. When a product is below 2 years old, which is the warranty period our direct customers get, we do try and help the end user if possible if their reseller has gone out of business. But we do require information regarding where you purchased the item, a receipt or invoice from that reseller proving purchase within the last 12 months so we can verify this. As for contacting Trading Standards, you are more than welcome to do this and we urge you to do so to clarify the law on this, rather than relying on `forum lawyers` information, which may or may not be incorrect. Although your card is well over 2 years old we would not ordinally get involved, as any warranty has expired. However, in this case if you can supply us with your retailer`s name and an invoice/receipt from them for this purchase, we will gladly look into it further for you on this occasion. Regards, Shaun.

so....basically they have seen this thread, and they are now telling me my card is 2 an a half years old, im fuming, at my wits end with xfx, and i hope they keep an eye on this thread, as im now going to spend some time getting some petrol and setting fire to their graphics card, what an absolute joke of a company, and will NEVER purchase anythin from the 2 bit crooks again, they have also closed my support ticket so i cannot reply, i hope this goes to show people not to buy their crap

So you are saying you purchased this 10 months ago. - Where was it purchased from? And do you have the invoice?

If it was a local corner computer shop... It is likely they have held stock for years if it wasn't new when you purchased.

didnt know wether i could say even though they had closed down or not, so dont ban me mods :D

was purchased from best buy, the guy sean from xfx mentioned i didnt say the retailers name like i was tryin to lie to him, but im assuming he didnt know about the no competitor naming rule

Sounds like to me the warranty starts from purchase, and it started when Best Buy purchased the product. They held stock for a while sold it to you so the only warranty left was the one year with the retailer. As they are no longer trading in the UK, you have no leg to stand on.

Not really XFXs problem if that is the case, so cannot fault them. But it is a bit pants for you being left in a situation with a product you have owned for 10 months.

^^ I had a feeling that was where it was purchased. Sad to see XFX still will not show some good will and help you out, so I will never promote their products and will go out of my way to advise any prospective purchaser that XFX are not the company to purchase from.

bit of a backwards way of business from xfx's part, but still, its now either bin it or set fire to it! lol

I have an XFX card, I certainly won't be buying anything else of theirs anytime in the future. Regardless of Best Buy going out of business they could at least try and help the OP out a little.

It is a shame as you are a genuine customer, do you have an invoice stating the date of purchase? Shame for customers to be caught out when you are not in any wrong and it is actually the company.

If you can prove you have only had the card 10 months to them, they may be able to help you. If not, then it seems like Best Buy supplying XFX products to customers with no warranty is unfair.

5850's haven't been current cards for a while - 7xxx cards are about a year old, and I got my 6850 almost 2 years ago now - so it's quite likely that the card is over 2 years old, even if you only purchased it 10 months ago!

If XFX had informed you of the June 2010 thing earlier on (when you supplied the Serial to them) then this situation wouldn't have got quite as bad - if their warranty is 2 years from their sale to a retailer then that's their viewpoint. However, to be fair to them - they have asked multiple times for proof of purchase from you, which you have failed to provide.

If you can produce the proof of purchase, it is sounding like they are willing to look into this if you genuinely have only had the card for 10 months, even if the card is over 2 years old.

That, actually, is sounding like some good customer service - provide a proof of purchase showing that you did only purchase it 10 months ago, and they will bypass their usual 2 year from point of their sale to a retailer.

I have spent over £1000 on XFX cards in the past. Reading this thread makes me feel a bit uneasy about doing this. Some companies bend over backwards to help loyal customers but judging by the tone of XFXs emails I don't think that is the case here. It also makes me wounder what help I might get if I got a problem with my XFX cards which I still use.

In a few months time there will be a new generation of high end cards on the market and I will be looking to make a purchase. This time round there is a good chance I will be looking at AMD cards. Can XFX give me any good reason why I should buy several of their cards. Looking after loyal customers would be high on my list of things I would want to see from a manufacturer.

I hope someone from XFX does read this as good customer support is important to someone looking to buy their products.

@kiel367 good luck with getting this sorted. I will be following this thread as it could influence my purchasing decisions in the new year.

Good luck mate

So - I've moved house 4 times in the last 5 years and I have still managed to keep hold of old receipts/invoices for purchases going back 10 years...?
