xfx warantee

Yeah I got a similar response from Kingston who just used the serial number to furnish me with a new ssd very quickly.
Does not help the op of course but it does suggest that XFX are not amongst the 'top tier' computer component companies (imo).

Definitely not. It's really pathetic how bad their CS is. Mind you though, without proof of purchase, I think that in this particular case, XFX aren't as bad as they're made out to be

XFX don't look good here, but the OP certainly hasn't helped either.

kiel367 doesn't look like a novice so I would assume he knew the card must have been old stock as the HD5850 were pretty much impossible to get once the 6xxx series came out, as production was stopped and the bitcoin people made light work of the remaining cards, with just some stupidly priced ones avaliable.

Since Best Buy closed on 14 January 2012, the OP should have known that any issues would have to be based on the manufacturer warranty, so keeping the receipt should have been a high priority particularly with this old card. (hopefully a lesson learned)

How much did you pay for the card, btw was it a bargain(at the time)? :/

it was about £160 i think, i have the memory of a goldfish at the min, working way too much lol, yeh lesson learnt, keeping all reciepts safe from now on

Also, OP, all Best Buy warranties are with Carphone Warehouse

Try this, all the way...

and lets face facts, carphone warehouse staff are far from intelligent, the least you may get is a refund....

I'm quite astonished best buy went bust in the UK so fast, wasn't long ago I was reading in the paper they opened their first store....

Buy from OcUK = happy days.

They price products like comet and had massive retail stores, just destine to fail from the start.

Feel bad for the op.

It's a shame, they did have some great products with half decent prices. As Locky says though, they had massive stores, not enough of them, and they were empty due to many things being cheper off Amazon

ok well its seeming like i have a final update on this, looks like im getting a replacement even though i cannot produce my invoice/reciept the guy has spoken to his manager about getting this resolved, here is the corrospondance

[SHAUN_T 11/12/2012 9:25:38 AM] Hi Kiel, we have noticed you have not replied to the message since last week. We asked you previously if you could get together some kind of proof of purchase to help us with this. Late last week I did approach my senior manager to see if there was any way to help you out without the proof of purchase (of course if you have this, that would be great). However, I have been informed that I am able to authorise a return for you. Therefore, if you can complete and confirm your full name and address in your XFX account for us, I can get this started. The replacement for your graphics card directly from XFX will be an XFX HD6850. Please let us know when your details are complete. Many thanks, Shaun.

[ 11/12/2012 7:57:53 PM] hi, sorry i have been away for the past few days and have not had internet access, unfortunately as i mentioned, i do not have my proof of purchase, due to having to move twice in the space of a year, and have misplaced a few of my invoices, such as other pc components which im obviously unhappy with myself about, but that is my own fault, i shall update all of my details on my account, i can only apologize if i have seemed abrupt or short at any point during these messages.

looks like im getting a happy result and my slating xfx may have been a tad in the quick to judge manner, the guy could have explained it a bit more to begin with and this may have been avoided, but thats water under the bridge so to speak.

They may be offering replacement now, but don't ignore the fact they pretty much said 'Tough ****' at the first time of asking.

Nice to see them come through in the end, but what has been said before is enough to stop me buying anything XFX branded ever again.

CS done the right way: They try help you out as much as possible from the off, Dimastech have as recently as today done this for me, lost a few parts for my bench table, no hassle sent out replacement parts free of charge and even let me throw in a few extras at my own cost.

Maybe 5UB should offer some courses in good CS to places like XFX? :p

its a good job my spare kit has onboard gfx, its only really so iv got somethin to browse/play a few games on while my son comes and plays games on my main rig, no gaming until i get my replacement.

Went through a similair situation with an xfx card, a 9 month old gtx 280 that failed. The retailer (who obviously i wont name due to competitor rules) were only willing to offer a cash payment for the dead card. I contacted xfx direct, but basically they didnt offer any advice or support whatsoever. After much persuasion i managed to get a gtx 275 as a replacement, this died after a few hours use. Eventually got a working 275.

To be fair to them, pretty much any brand will require proof of purchase.

I am not doubting that, however saying he has no warranty as it has run out, shoving him off, and then calling their current/potential customers names through support is just ridiculous. When he could have been friendly while being to the point. If someone contacted me regarding a faulty product without an invoice I would show sympathy, and respect and make a bit more of an effort.

Anyway, that is all I have to say. I will not say anything more here as it is not my business. :)

i will be honest, i half expected them to tell me there was nothing that could be done as i had no proof of purchase, it was all about the manner of the reply as 5ub said, but thankfully we got there in the end, i do think xfx need to think a bit more into this warrantee is with the re-seller thing, as in the rare occasion as this when they go out of business, it leaves the customer in the lurch and out of pocket as i was about to be had i not questioned more into it, whereas the average person may not have chased this up after being told they couldnt be helped, just my 2p of input into it, as the only problems iv heard of are the warrantee/rma side of things, other than that i see some good reviews of xfx's products, also i cannot judge them just by this one experience, so overall, they arent that bad.

Just read through this, and I'm glad its all sorted. a 6850 is quite a decent replacement even!

I think they've painted themselves in a bad light in the thread, but tried to make amends. It does make sense; their target market would be us, the enthusiasts, and we're here watching the thread which would make or break sales for them.

If it was me though, without proof of purchase, I wouldn't expect much and wouldn't cause a fuss.

Ah, I see where you're coming from :)

warrantee is with the re-seller thing, warrantee

Warantee...

As for with whom the warranty is with, under UK law, the manufacturer doesn't have to do a thing, the reseller is completely liable.

That being said, when you pay so much for enthusiast products, you do expect some CS
