Quite surprised you are stocking these. They are just more low end units like the Corsair CX series but from a even worse oem. I hope the build quality is better than the Maverick S because Jonnyguru review the 500w model of that and the quality was abysmal.

I've tested one extensively myself, and are pretty surprised with the stability and quality of the unit. I believe TechPowerUp will have a review going live in the next few days that is pretty positive too. The Maverick series have been made especially for the EU market, hence the 230V EU certification, meaning that the efficiency is better than the 115/230V units also.

Would you happily recommend that someone could run a 290x of the 600w one?

Specs state 45.0A on the 12v single rail, which should be fine, but IDK if it would actually make that?

No, I'd recommend you bought SuperFlower or Seasonic, however for someone on a tight budget with a mid range gaming system it's well suited.

Just to make it clear, these are not aimed at anyone building a decent gaming rig, rather someone who wants to build an entry - mid level system with a PSU that is no nonsense and provides the wattage expected of it. I always say you should never skimp on the power supply quality, but better buying this solid Xigmatek unit than another cheaper uprated pile of chinese junk that is prevalent in the market.

Dunno, I cant see a reason why you wouldn't spend £2 more on the 450w superflower model.

I mean, sure its got 150 more watts. But what use are the extra Xigmatek watts if you they cant be recommended for builds where you actually need that extra power?

I guess you gotta offer a cheaper high watt PSU for the unwashed masses though, else they will just buy one from elsewhere.

EDIT - Your previous post pretty much answers this.

Exactly, it also offers a semi modular unit in a price bracket where there aren't many modular units.

Being the heart of the PC I would always buy the best you can afford that fits with the build you are working on. A budget build is what this unit is designed for and would probably be well suited for that purpose.

I have owned many Xigmatek products and they are cracking value for the money, so would have to agree with ChugNorris.

Except for the part where he says a decent gaming rig , i think you mean high end. :p

Low Mid High

Decent to me is 970/290 and above. The 600w would be ok for those but personally I'd go SuperFlower, Seasonic, EVGA, BeQuiet etc at that level.

That is the second review that mentions only 6pin PCIE connectors... OCUK might want to amend the specs to save themselfes some returns / unhappy customers..

I don't call that a particularly positive review. Noisey, innefficient, only 6 pin pci-e connectors and only a score of 7.4 which is pretty awful. Personally, nothing that scores less than 9 (consistant across multiple reviews) is even considered for any pc, no matter what spec it is, that I build. The psu is not the place to skimp on a build. With the vast choice of psu's these days I really don't see why anybody would consider one of these.

Yeah, I'd call 74% pretty positive at a pricepoint where most PSU's are junk for the wattage they offer. As I've stated many times already, I wouldn't personally use one, or recommend them for gaming systems, but for a cheaper build they will do a job better than a lot of equivalently priced China specials.
